SATA and IDE problems please help!!!!

    Hi there i have recently purchased a samsung 250GB hard drive which is SATA i installed it perfectly with no problems but when I enable my IDE hard drive which is a slave it boots up and tells me to put master IDE in and restart my computer.Please can someone help me i have a Asrock K7 Upgrade 600 motherboard i have tried the bios but no luck. Thank you in advance for any help.

    the sata is not master/slave so you need to have the ide as master.

    I am using the sata as my master and trying to make the IDE the slave is it not possible?

    sata does not have master or slave.

    one ide drive must be the master, then if you add another ide drive it would be the slave.

    Marsey99 is correct.

    Puffy_1 connect sata drive to mother board, set the IDE back to a master since it is on a different controller. No need for a slave. If you have made the sata drive the drive that has the OS on, then you have to make sure that in BIO setup that you have it set as the primary boot disk. Look to you motherboard instruction to set.

    Thank you for your help. So i put the IDE as a master driver can it still be used as a storage drive?

    Dont worry about my last post like you said just made the IDE a master and it works as a slave drive. Thanks for your help.
