Saving camcorder images to DVD for TV

    I own a Panasonic NV-DS77 camcorder.
To download the images to my computer I use Pinnacle 8.
    No problem there.
The problem I have is producing a DVD that will run on my home DVD player (Phillips).
Is there a format that I can save the images in, AVI doesn’t seem to work, so that I can watch the footage on TV through my player?
Is Pinnacle 8 capable of doing this chore, the help part of the programme doesn’t seem to cover this problem.
If not, does anyone have any suggestions regarding software that will do the job as I don’t want to fork out cash for a home DVD recorder.
    Cheers.

I use Videowave to manipulate my video and edit then create Video CDs or DVDs - Both work on DVD players and PCs. I use Nero to write the DVD/CD

I can recommend the product - another excellent utility for editing and changing formats is TMPG which converts formats and cleans them etc
