Saving Halo 3 game

First timer, have new xbox 360 elite for xmas. Playing Halo 3, how do i save the game before i turn it off, can't seem to find a "save" function.. help! thanks!

 

What is there to save? Normally they save automatically.

 

So Halo3 saves after going to each checkpoint? You dont hav to save the gave if you want to turn of the 360. Is that wat u did?

 

Yeah it saves automatically after you get to a checkpoint. Then next time you play you resume where you left off.

in like mission 4. i started a campagn on single but then contued in co-op and i had to start from the beginning

 

when you are done playing in campane mode press the start buten the go to save and quit and it will quit and everything is saved for next time.

now for forge mode after makeing your levle press the start buten and go to (save as new level) and you can save it.
