saving tunes from a casswette tape with goldwave

hi
im using turtle beaches audio advantage srm soundcard with goldwave.the
problem is i cant seem to moniter the music from the tape.i tried to
adjust it before i try to moniter it by playing a few bars from the
tune and think ive found the high frequency and adjust it from that but
later on i find anouther high frequency and readjust it and start reco-
rding all over again..is there something e;se that i can try?
