I don't see the 37" in the coupon book, only the 42" which apparently has not been introduced yet. But the 37" is available right now on costco.com with $100 off coupon and $100 mail in rebate, for a foinal price of $1599.99.

I din't think it is a typo because the picture looks nothing like the 37" or any of the other models. I just hope the Sceptre 42" or the 37" show up in the costco near me so I can take a look at it before buying. I also hope it has a 8ms response like the 37", or even lower would be great :).

I bought one from costco.com and have had it for a few days. It's my first HDTV and I'm very happy with it. I've seen breakups on the screen, both in HDTV and POTV, but it only happens on some channels so I assume it's probably the cable box that's causing it or maybe the cable signal itself. For example, I've never seen the tiniest glitch on the HDTV Discovery Channel.

The HDTV picture 1080i just blows me away. All of the 2 million pixels appear to be functioning well. Though it's set up in front of a picture window, it's still bright enough with full daylight behind it.

It was a little scary to buy a $1500 TV sight-unseen, but after all it's from Costco and if I get unhappy with it I can simply bring it back.

roadkille, Go ahead and get it and report back to us here so we will know what to do. hehe Just kidding guy!

I am waiting for a big price drop in the next 12 months. Lots of new production facilities have been built and are being built in the LCD and plasma fields. Plus the new screen production and technology should peak in the next few months. I think the screens, is what has kept the prices high.

I read somewhere that if you didn't have 1920 X 1080 resolution you would not be showing all that HD offers. Less is good but not the very best? Anyone know if this is true? The 37" Sceptre does have it!!

I have owned a 720P projection DLP TV over the summer, and now I have a 1080i CRT from the Dish Network and the Sceptre 37" LCD 1080p TV. Even with its limitations, I enjoy the Sceptre picture the best because of the sharp detail and colors on HD. It's fascinating to watch Discovery HD, a better picture than on the 720p or even the 1080i. I forgot to mention earlier that the fast response rate of 8ms shows in the way the Sceptre displays action. I have seen jerkier action on more expensive screens on display at Costco, so this monitor is superior in that regard. I saw a post somewhere, though, that the later v2 version of the Sceptre has given people trouble. I think they were picture display issues, if I remember right. Anyway, I bought mine in August 2005 and it could be one of the earlier models which did not have problems. If you do get a bad one from Costco, they has a great return policy, so you are covered.

Do the speakers sound good? A lot of people said the speakers are suck. How about the tech supports? Are they nice and helping you all the way through problems?

    @ bjkimb
For your question, for the true HD 1080p, you should get 1920 X 1080 resolution HDTV like Sceptre 37" has.

As everyone knows, the specifications of Sceptre 37" is on the top list for LCD HDTV. Also it is too cheap (compare to other brands with same spec). The only problems with Sceptre are the speakers and Customer supports.

The model number of the new 42" Sceptre LCD is X42SV-NAGA. No, it's not on their website, but they are currently displaying it at the CES.

You don't need a coupon to buy it from Costco in March for $500 off. It will only be available through Costco.com, and the $500 discount should automatically be applied to all orders placed from March 6 to March 12.

It would be nice if you can post the specifications for Sceptre 42".

Well, the X42SV-NAGA may cost over $3000. I hope NOT.

@roadkille: The Sceptre 37 speakers--I didn't give them an honest test. If you have a picture like this you should really have a decent sound system; buy one with some of the money you saved by buying the Sceptre! Also, since I don't have a decent antenna I have not yet tried either of the tuners. I use the cable box only, and the best my cable box can do is to output 1080i. I don't think there's any commercial source of 1080p video available--yet.

I purchased the 32" Proview from Costco for $900 on sale and it is GREAT! Set it up on the bedroom wall and it's perfect including the sound. I know that Costco will take most anything back so I wouldn't worry about any decision you make with them. It does have 1920x1080 res so you are good to go there as well. It's an online only purchase but can be returned to any Costco store.

    Good luck in any case.

Thank you for your posts. I will look into that. Right now I'm still interesting in the new 42" Sceptre LCD HDTV with model X42SV-NAGA. Because it has $500 off on March 2006.

I see on the Costco website there is also a Sceptre 32" for about $900 with a very fast response time of 8ms and a good selection of inputs.

If the new Westinghouse 1080p LVM-42W2 carries a list of $2799 (http://www.cnet.com/4831-11405_1-6411925.html), it's hard to believe the Sceptre 42" would be any higher than that.

I got the Costco coupons a few days ago (I'm not even a member). Called Sceptre and the rep
I spoke to couldn't give me exact pricing but said the price of the 42" should be 2100-2200
    after the coupon.
