Scientific Atlanta DVR 8300 aux inputs

    Anyone, is it possible to connect my satellite reciever outputs to the aux inputs and control sat viewing (ie pause, rewind etc.)

    Found my own answer. The front "aux inputs are for future use and may be available on all models". I kept thread open in case anyone else has the same question.

    That funtion is already available. I work for a cable company. We have 2 DVR's 8300 converters. Explorer 8300 HD and Explorer 8300 HDC.

    Here the firmware version we are using that have that feature enabled:

    8300 HD Version DVR 1.5.2
    8300 HDC Version DVR 1.5.3

    To check your version you will need to go to the diagnostics screen.

    Press the select button for a few seconds untill you see an envelope on the converter display. Then press INFO on the converter.

    Go to page 3. To move pages use the Vol - and Vol + buttons on the converter.

    To exit press Exit on the DVR.

    If you have the feature enabled, using your DVR remote control press the Video Source button. Hope this helps!
