I have a new Seagate 5TB portable hard drive.
When I plug it into my PC, the light on the Portable hard drive lights up showing it is plugged in.
In the "Control panel/hardware and sound/devices and printers" the Seagate PHD is listed.
In the device manager in "disk drives" the Seagate PHD is listed.
However, it does not show up on the PC (as G or H, etc.)
I can not get access to it to put something on it or to reformat it.
Can anyone tell me what I can do to fix this problem?
I would appreciate any help given.
    Thank you

In 'Disk Management', in the lower part of the pane, does it list a disk # with no name?

In Device Manager > Disk Drives, right click on the Seagate drive and select 'Properties'.
Does it show under the 'Volumes' tab when 'Populate' is clicked.
Under 'Driver' tab, try to update the driver.

I have tried updating drivers and I already hit the populate. I have even tried uninstalling and plugging it back for it to reinstall.
Anything else you can think of?
    I appreciate your help.

Thank you for your help, but the seller decided to replace the portable hard drive. (after a lot of pestering).
Again, I want to thank you for offering your help.
