If you have any other versions of Office installed before hand uninstall it and try again. You may need to do an registry clean too.

Thanks for the reply borhan9, I re-installed windows XP after upgrading my PC. So I tried installing Microsoft Office 2007- without any luck due to the unsual protected system file problem which I don't understand.

I installed Microsoft Office 2003 Professional and it completed successfully. So I don't know why it doesn't install The 2007 version of office.

Maybe the 07 version has a glitch in the setup installation process try get your hands on another copy and see if the other copies or not. If it does not have a bug then it has problems with the installation CD if its otherwise its a system glitch.

Hey there, the problem still presists. Even with a different copy of Microsoft Office 2007.

I don't understand which "Protected Windows Files", the installer cannot update?

Try to do either a registry cleaner or try a system restore and see if that fixes the problem. It really seems you have a system issue that is causing the problem. Other than those ideas all else that comes to mind is to format and start again.

Ohh just remembered try a repair install of windows before the format.

    Edit

Just wanted to add it was saying its a service issue you may need to go to your manage under my computer and go to the services and see which service could be causing the conflict.
