When I double click on a folder shortcut, instead of opening up the file, I get a search window........

I can right click the shortcut and I get a window that opens up giving me the following options in this order:
    search......
    open
    and so on.............

When I right click on other shortcuts that are OK I get the window that does not show search as 1st option but instead it shows Open as first option.

Does anyone know what this problem is and how it can be corrected.

I personally believe it is somewhere in folder optins but don't know how tocorrect.

So you have a shortcut to a folder...

Try creating the shortcut again and see if that works.
Seems like if it cant find the folder that the shortcut is referring to.

Eg, if you upgraded from Windows98 to XP and had a shortcut to say My Documents, instead of Win98 being C:\My Documents it will be C:\Documents and Settings\Username\My Documents and so on.

I have already tried that. Does not work.

I have not had any operating system except XP Home on my computer.
