no i do agree cable is a lot easier
my point is 1 would look no easier than the other if you are just starting off
but as you progress 'yes in a "few hours" cable would be the easier option to do

cable versus sat is like chalk and cheese,i think this is the main reason why people get bogged down easily as e45 said people are looking for the quick fix with sat you are not going to get this.i was using cable for a few years but changed to sat when nag3 was implented i must say it was(is)a fantastic learning curve.i suppose i am a hobbiest and enjoy this kinda thing,i am not trying to frighten newbies trying this for the first time but please read up as much as possible before you start and try to visualise this whole thing in youre head, stock up on tea coffee and panadol you will see why but its great and there is plenty of great info on thanks to piopat and fint

"i have no problem but i do when fintannl comes over to every thread i post in and starts on me that is why im returning the same compliment to him " (time for people to act their age and not their shoe size) people dont want to come here and see post after post like the one you posted above and its not just this thread but quite a few others ,people only want to come here to learn and to help others if they can .this thread contains a lot of usefull posts and information of which you have contributed nothing where as a lot of members have contributed quite a lot including my self and i take exception to you trying to spoil the thread with childish posts .if you have advice or information to post then do so as all info and help is very wellcome ,if not dont try and spoil it for everyone else . now i hope this thread can get back to where it was and members can get back to helping those that need help .

im well aware of what this forum is about ,and of the boxes that are being discussed as i have helped people on here and elsewhere to setup most of them . there is little difference between flashing a cable dreambox and a satellite dreambox (they both use dreamup if flashed via a null modem cable)the images used are different for obvious reasons .onced you have flashed a satellite dreambox a person will have many free to air channels (on cable you have few if any without connection to the sever)if the server goes down the channels are gone (which is what happened in ireland) on satellite you always have all the free channels .if a person has flashed a eurovox/starview/kryptview/digivox etc there is no reason why that person cant flash a dreambox ,the loaders and firmware are different but the principles are the same. if its possible to have satellite where you live its the best option (even just for fta) a person that has a multi lnb setup or a motorised dish will have hundreds of free channels and with cs hundreds more on many satellites .if cable is the only option (for people who live in apartments )then kryptview is by far a better option than starview .but where there is a choice look at satellite there is no reason to be afraid of it.

Jaysus, Pat don't be making it sound so simple, lol!!

Everybody will be doing it and then the tv companies will have to act and put a stop to it!! Just pretend it is nearly impossible or at least very tricky and we will be grand!!

As i have said before jack and sg8 the cable is by far the easiest route for people to do most cant flash boxes or even set up comports and piopat is looking for them to go sat route they might get the flash part done the defo wont get the rest of it done and one touch of a button and your cline is gone whats the worst that can happen on cable box you delete your channels quick scan away you go again

you dont have to be great with a pc (but yes it helps if you are used to using one )the flashing as i said earlier for the most part has little difference with that of a cable dreambox ,in fact the likes of a dm500c and dm500s differ really only in the tuner and the image used .where did you get this one touch of a button and the c line is gone notion( i think you should stick with the cable side of things) i have helped many people to setup there boxes and quite a few who had a very limited experience and they managed to do it ,im not saying its 10 minutes work and your done far from it .i explain to people that it takes time and quite a bit of patience (i direct them to my tutorial to read ) and then i take them through the process one step at a time as the tutorial does .i can honestly say i dont know of anyone i helped that didnt manage to get setup at the very least using a c line (setting up as a server is harder) but should a person fail in the cs part they still will know they have all the free channels .i dont tell people to go any route cable or satellite people take their own route or the routes open to them ,i just try and give them the information they ask for and help they need .there is nothing wrong with cable if thats your choice but i do believe satellite is atleast head and shoulders above it ,the fta channels alone make it more worth while ,who knows what will happen in 2 weeks or 6 months time maybe both options for pay channels will be gone. lastly i dont use payservers nor do i say that people should use them i leave that to the people them selves to decide.
