It is possible to skin the warthog.. In bitmaps, find the warthog, extract the image file, open it up, skin it, save it and then re-inject it. By the way, "FuZ3" you may want to mention how you will have to delete the temporary files out of X, Y, and Z drives in order for the skins to show up. -Mike
Thanks for that. But if you have XBMC as your dashboard then you don't have a X, Y, and Z. Well I don't.
hey dude with the modded backups that cant get new ones, just get a multiplayer map pack, thats what i found is the easiest. and my photoshop doesn't support dds extensions so am i just supposed to save it as bms and then open it back in dxtbmp and save it as a dds?
[bold]@blink2252[/bold] Like Mik3h said, if you are going to be skinning with Photoshop then you need the DDS plugins for Photoshop. But if you are going to skin with paint then you need DXTBmp and Paint. *Note* If you are skinning with Photoshop then you don't need DXTBmp.
well i looked in my plug-ins folder and it said i already had the plugin in there as i expected.... maybe i just didn't check the box for dds extensions when i installed it? i think i'll try re-installing it...
Ok. I have never used Photoshop before, but I'm sure there are plenty of other people here that could help you out if I can't.
So I've been working on getting a skin to work for the warthog and I just can't seem to get it to work. I ended up downloading the shared, singleplayer, and mainmenue.map's to my laptop. I'm asuming I had to do this because I didn't fully softmod my xbox. I just keep runing linux off of MechAssault and doing and FTP. Anyways so I inject this really sick flam skin for the warthog but every time I go to load the map on my xbox it wont load the map at all. If sombody could send me in the right dirrection that would be great.
[bold]@frkydkybb[/bold] If it's an old map you need to use Encryptomatic Signature and if it's a new map you need to use CMR. [bold]@blink2252[/bold] I like your signature, lol.
Thanks, and that video about trash talking on your homepage is hilarious lol. [bold]frkydkybb[/bold]You could just use Samesig that resigns them all
Ok so i figured out kinda a lil bit of this stuff on my own. I finally got Halo2 on my drive and was able to skin the old maps, and yes I was resigning them. The newer maps however I cant get to work. I dont know if its something to do with the shared.map file or wat.
Oh and by the way my new problem. After sofmoding my xbox it no longer allows me to connect to live. It brings up my live names, but nothing happens when I connect. I ended up back into the MS dashboard and redoing my network settings and it just wont connect for some reason. Also I can't get any serenities to work if sombody could help me with that it would be great.
you have to cold boot when you try to get on live. Open your disc tray and put your disc on it. while the tray is out turn off the xbox power and it will close. Turn it back on and it will load the game, if it doesn't, then turn on auto disc load or something like that on your dashoard. Also make sure your ip is set to DHCP.
that will make it load from the cd though and i dont want it to do that cuz ive skinned some old maps, or is that the only way.
You have to follow a tutorial on this page if you want to play old maps http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/373161
first off mad props to blink that TUT page was the shit, but of course now that ive gotten farther into this whole modding buisiness I have naturaly run into some more obsticals. Now I would like to find out how I would go about allowing other players on XBL to see my skins. I also still can't seem to skin the new maps right. Any help would be appritiated. Again mad props to blink.
Yeah I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that the only skin that you do that non modders can see is the setinal beam.
