Thanks again alkohol for the super info. This is a hugh help. You guys have never failed me. Thank You.
Alkohol: please explain to me what vobblank is and how do I get it. I am new to this and I can not get sky high or madagascar to burn. Please help newbee!
I am not Alkohol, but I will sort of answer for you. VobBlanker is a software that replaces video on a DVD with blank cells. Also, the playback is skipped by moving post commands into pre commands. This is good if you want to remove things like previews and such. In the case of Alkohol's guide, it will replace the corrupted PGCs with a blank Cell, so it will actually have some data on the disc, but it will never be played. Here is where you can DL the program: http://jsoto.posunplugged.com/vobblanker.htm And here are some guides: http://jsoto.posunplugged.com/guides.htm Edit: To get both your movies to compress, rip them first with DVD Decrypter in File mode. Then launch VobBlanker and load the VIDEO_TS.IFO. Then go to the VTS of the main movie *for Madagascar it is VTS_08 and for Sky High I thin kit is VTS_01). Now when you click on the VTS, you will see that there will be information about the PGCs. For Madagascar, select PGC 2, 3, 4, & 5 and then click on the "Blank" Button. For Sky High, you will do the same, but the PGCs will be 2 & 3. After you select which cells to blank, pick a destination folder and click the "process" button. The DVD Will be in the new folder that VobBlanker saves to. Here is the link to Alkohol's post with the pics. http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/2/259364
All I have to say is that Alkohol is a life saver, I did everything exactly as he put it and Voila.....AARCOOS IS SUCKING MY BALLS. Thank you soo much for the tip, i was losing my mind over here but there's nothing like a google search and some forums from very bright people to help out.....everybody, look at Alkohol's posting, he Does knows what he is talking about.
@MR1234, Just to correct your post, Alkohol's guide is for [bold]Ripguard[/bold] corruption. I am not sure if it will work on ARccOS, because in the past, I have attempted something like that and got errors like "reached end of VTS too early".
hey guys, i wanna try alkohol's method, but i can't seem to find the download for VobBlanker. how do i get it?
Here is the website: http://jsoto.posunplugged.com/vobblanker.htm and here are the general guides: http://jsoto.posunplugged.com/guides.htm
THANKS JaguarGod Sorry, i didn't notice that you already posted the links to the program in an earlier post.
To Alkohol and all the rest that take time to help us newbs: thank you thank you thank you! There is no way I could have got through many of these backups without you guys and this forum. You are my newest heros.
To Sariel, I think you might have some spyware stuff on your pc. Now I'm not saying you do but I once had the same message and it turned out I had a Poopload of spyware stuff and addware crap. I had to get a program to clean it up. Hope it's not the same problem I had. Cheers!
JaguarGod-For 'Sky High' I used Decrypter in IFO mode to see that four cells in Ch 1 were 17 frames long. I unchecked all but #5 and Ch 13 whose cell was 15 frames. I ripped the rest of the main movie in IFO mode then everything else in file mode. I then used IFOEdit as per your usual instructions to correct IFOs. Then used Shrink and finally burned with Nero. No problems. I also did a test as per Alkohol's instructions - no problems. I can't quite correlate these two approaches. Any advice?
That is pretty odd. I would have thought the guide I wrote would not have worked on Ripguard... The only difference between the two methods is that the Extra PGCs are still there with the VobBlanker method. DVD Decrypter most likely recognizes the bad cells in chapter 1 so it will place dummy sectors. This is the same as skipping them in IFO mode and then fixing the VTS. I guess IFOEdit also fixes the extra PGCs, but I am not sure what is does exactly since I do not own a Ripguard movie. This is good news though, because at least for now, there are more methods (options) to back up these movies.
@JaguarGod It's good to know that there are several methods are able to rip and backup RipGuard and ARccOS without AnyDVD, DVD43, DVDIdle Pro or DVD Region Free+CSS isn't it. Your guide for ripping Sony's ARccOS on the Advanced forum is great, I must concord. I haven't tried "Stealth" with PgcEdit, VobBlanker and DVD Decrypter per my usual method yet, but I'll try in a few days (for experiment) and I'll you know how it goes. If for some reason it doesn't work, then there's always a alternate way around. On the other hand, for Sony's ARccOS, Cynthia's got a really great guide with DVD Decrypter with PSL2 plugins, PgcEdit and FixVTS as well. I think it's good that we have all these awesome programs that can handle ARccOS flawlessly without AnyDVD. I'm not saying (dissin') that AnyDVD is bad, but I like to use VobBlanker to "blank" out any junks, such as FBI warning, bad protected sectors, and other irrelevant previews, etc. Somehow, I think newbies think that PgcEdit, VobBlanker and IfoEdit is hard to use, but really it's not. And I know that most of them will prefer AnyDVD, which is a one click, but I believe the more you play (experience) with, the better (more advanced) knowledge you'll receive in the end. Have a great day buddy!! @jgould2 I'm not JaguarGod, but I'm glad we could help. It's good to know that we don't necessary need AnyDVD, DVD43 or other cracking engines for ARccOS and RipGuard as of now.
attn:JaguarGod-More Ripguard-"Brothers Grimm" essentially the same as "Sky High". Same approach, same results. "The Great Raid" had the same corrupted cells in vts 01, main movie, but also vts 04 had 5 pgcs which each had two chapters. The first chapter of each pgc had 5 cells, with only the last cell being good. I unchecked the bad cells and ripped each pgc in vts 04 in IFO mode. I unchecked the bad cells in the main movie and ripped that in IFO mode. I then ripped the rest of the stuff in File mode. I then used IFOEdit in the usual manner but encountered problems. I got VTS Sectors. Still got warning messages. Got Shrink to accept it but Nero warned 'not to dvd standard'. Burned it anyway and plays fine in computer and on tv. Any suggestions?
It is possible that those were real. What happens if you rip those cells?? I am thinking that those are some extra features, which are usually not protected. However, if it worked, then everything is fine. I am not sure what the "not to DVD standard" warning is about though. If there are problems with those PGCs later on, you can always use VobBlanker to blank them out.
attn:JaguarGod-When I rip VTS 04, Shrink won't buy it. That's what prompted me to investigate past VTS 01.
@jgould2, Nero may just be a bit picky then. If Shrink accepts a movie, there is no reason for there to be a problem. There could have be some cell commands or something that Nero does not like. Good work on your investigating of the Corruption though.
what alkohol said works but i couldent get it 2 work with dvd decrypter so i used dvdfab then used vobblanker sent it 2 dvd shrink burnt it and it all works when i used dvd decryter and took it 2 vobblank then processed it it would say vob finished 2 early so i used dvdfab and decryted then vobblank and it processed perfect thanks alkohol 4 letting me no about vobblank
