I attempted to change my hdd today and made no success I planned to use the slayer 2.7 to change it. From what I read all I needed to do was change the hdd and then boot the disc so I did but now the disc won't boot and I'm getting that problem with xbox message. What might be wrong? Do I need to change the jumper setting? Is it a compatible hdd issue.

I have a western digital wd800jb 80gb if you have any suggestions let me know what to do cause this pretty much all I can do right now to change this hdd anything extra is going to hit me in the pockets again if you know what I mean ><

Thanks it was a success. Longer process then I had hopped for but wasn't as bad as I thought. Once again I managed to dodge another noob bullet and not completely waste money :)

The motherboard and the hard drive are married as in the eeprom holds the vital hdd information for that combination of board and hdd. If you wanted a different hdd for that box, you could use the same disk.

Cool I'm having some problems and I'm guessing the hd is the problem I loaded it up using the softmod method keeping everything from C: and E:.

It seems that XBMC is acting up a bit. Sometimes I go into one of the options on the opening menu and it will just go to black I can go back to the menu and it will pop up again but that gets annoying. The second thing is sometimes it pauses on loading the video streams I have to restart. I'm considering just doing a clean install >< or upgrade to get it back to its regular performance. What do you suggest.

I would do a clean install of XBMC. Or on the E drive there are 2 folders Udata folder and a Tdata folder, delete the 0face008 folder in both before doing a clean install to see if that helps first

Um, guys, are you sayin slayer's 2.7 can be used to softmod but sid and aid are better?
What if i have only slayer's 2.7 now?
Should i try using it considering i ftp c:, e: and eeprom to my pc then incorporate it all into slayer's 2.7?
I know, no one has tried it but i'm experimental, do you think it could work?

i don't have any of those games and i don't have a memory card, so you guessed it, i'm trying to softmod another route, ok, the cheaper way where i don't buy anything.

    thx.
