Please if someone knows how to answer this for a truly newbie on PC stuff, help me.
I have a LG GSA-4160B. I'm using Nero 6.6.0.0 to trying to burn some data DVD. I use Imation media DVD-R 8X.
When I open Nero and try to set a slower speed it only offers 4 or 8x.Although the DVD R/RW drive can burn at 4x, it always ends on mistakes on the last tracks. It doesn't show any mistakes during the burning, neither on the verifying the media after that. But when I run Nero-CD Speed test it always show those nasty red spots on the end of the disk, which of course are unreadable by any DVD drive (CRC redundance error, or something like that). What would be the way that I could possibly burn on a slower speed? Anyone can help please?

it may not be the slower speeds but your media.... Imation..... that's not good media! Try better media and your problem will or should be a thing of the past! here is a media guide:
    http://www.digitalfaq.com/media/dvdmedia.htm
here is a free tool to find out what Manufacturers ID your disk is:
    http://www.dvdinfopro.com
check your disk..... compare it to the guide and you'll see that it's not the best of media. Verbatim, Taiyo Yuden, Sony, Maxell are just a few first class media! try them out and see for yourself.

Just another reason that might cause errors at the end is: you burned too close to the outer edge and therefor the CRC errors. I go as far as 4384MB.... that will do it!

Thanks. I'll try your tips. I hope it works. But I've always read bad thing about Maxell midia. The problem is to find good midia where I live, but I'll give a search on those brands. Thanks :)

Maxell, Sony, Fuji, are all Taiyo Yuden if made in Japan is on the spindle as country of origin. Tys and Verbs are the best. Imation uses crap manufactures like CMC. Also Nero will not list the correct burn speeds if no disc is in the drive you are going to burn to. Firmware issues could be going on also.

Yours should be A306 if you are up to date.
Nero Info Tool will show you the firmware version you currently have.
Also the version of nero you listed is very old.
Here is the bug free version of 6.6.0.18. I do not suggest you use Neros current 6x as it is full of bugs.

I live in Brazil. Not many brands available on the stores, unfortunately. And many are fake or made in "Paraguay" or some factory in a garage. No intention of saying only Paraguay fakes brands things, of course. Brazil is a paradise for those too :((
