That's what I mean. If there's gonna be laws prohibiting us from smoking around other people, give the bars funds to expand and have a smoking section. Or better yet, ban non-smokers :)

We had that but it wasn't good enough for them.. Aparently it is all about protecting the health of workers in these businesses.. but it's a lie.. It's fascism, pure and simple. Somkers are the new blacks.. excluded and discriminated against. I'm going to take up heroin and violently attacking old ladies to steal to support my addiction... It's more socially acceptable.

If you're gonna drink you might as well smoke. Me? Can't legally drink yet, I'm not 21. But I still enjoy the occasional 3 or 4 shots of whiskey. Gets me a good buzz going.

Most people I know drink AND smoke. So I think they're really banning a majority of bar-goers vs a small minority. I mean, how often do you go into a bar and find a non-smoker?

i dont smoke anymore LOL......but i think all this anti-smoking campaigns and such have over stepped them selfs....people running them tend to be fat-assed pigs, and although they dont use cigs, they abuse money which is much more dangerous.....cigarettes have a warning label on them,if you smoke you know the risks....cig companys cant advertise on tv or radio...magazines tend to be it...the government/bullshit groups seems to be out to make it seem that smokers are evil fatcats, yet they can recruit young juniors out of high schools and send them to the front lines and thats ok?

i just think banning smoking from bars+resturants seems ro be a violation of my rights.....yet drinking is still allowed in those areas, what perfect sense we are making....

Currently smoking a pack of Winston Lights a month. Have one or two after each physics group session, as it's lovely.

I drink and don't smoke. I don't know how I never got caught up in smoking, a lot of the people I hang out with smoke. My Mom smokes, my Uncle smokes, most of my friends smoke. I guess what did it for me was the fact that it doesn't really do anything for me. If I'm going to do something that kills me, I at least want to get some satisfaction from it.

Say for instance eating a bunch of Hydrocodones, hell that will kill the shit out of your liver, but man what a nice stone. Eating ten Xanax a day, hell that will kill the shit out of your liver and everything else, but oh does it feel so great!

I just don't see what's the big deal with cigarettes.

I don't notice any difference after I smoke, probably because I don't smoke enough to develop a taste for nicotine, and I never have cravings. But the smoke tastes good and I enjoy the "texture" of it, if you will, so that's what I get out of it.

I don't drink alcohol or imbibe any other substances, however. Auslander isn't a fan of any other states of mind except his sober one.

    *edit*
I've been on every pain killer under the sun and never gotten the "good feeling" so many people talk about, same as with other substances. Shit just stops hurting for me, and that's all. I don't need the damage that comes with substance abuse.

That's possible, opiates effect people in different ways. But maybe you just didn't eat enough. ;)

I can understand that you like the taste and texture, I enjoy a different type of smoke and that's what I love about it.

i think the main reason i stopped was because:

    a) finding a roommate was hard....

    b) it was costing me to much $$

I think most of the addiction comes from having the cigarettes in your hand. If you stop smoking, you're basically left with nothing to do.

    What do you guys think?

Absolutely, 99% of it is the mental conditioning, the routines of smoking. I used the nicotine patch to help myself quit. It was weird because I'd have to stop and talk to myself when I really wanted a smoke.
<self talks to self>Stop being such a vagina, you know its just your brain that wants it...You get more nicotine soaked into your system using patches than smoking a pack a day...Control your brain and be strong...

Yes, mind over matter. I quit my addiction without having to go to one of those rehab clinics. Just tell yourself stop being such a puppy and control it. Nothings impossible...

Do as you will shall be the whole of the law.

Nothing is true.. everything is permitted.

As of the last round of tax hikes (on something that is sooooooo bad they want to stamp it out) I am now in position where I smoke nothing but illegally smuggled tobacco therefore doing the state out of their cut.

I'm sick of being lectured and preached to.. I'm the last of my line so there is no point living into a miserable lonely old age. Anyway the chances of getting something else that kills you in the UK are incredibly high.. we have a falling life expectancy due to environmental pollutants pouring out of vehicles.

hell here in bc a new law made it so that all stores had to hide the cigs and not advertise and also we are no longer allowed to smoke 3 meters in front of a public building so no smoking on side walks any more but on the other hand if we walk down the street with a dube a cop will ask for a hoot than just walk off no prob but for breaking the new smoking law its a $50 fine
