Just remembered one thing. I think that in the default GCos 1.X settings, disc swap is disable. Run GCoS 1.X, and go to Settings ---> More Settings ---> Set 2 Disc Code, and verifie if that is enabled. Press up or down in D-pad to enable if the case. Good luck.

I was just hoping to get an answer here if no-one replies to the thread I started on the main page, sorry to take up so much screen space but my GC is about to be kicked to bits if I can't get it working properly soon.

I have the max drive pro pack and I know that this is an SD Launcher thread though after a certain stage they both rely on the same method.

I've also followed everything in the sticky subjects with no real luck, the GCOS wouldn't even recognise the games, then I fiddled with the laser POT setting, everything from 130 to 350 ohms (the original POT setting when I first opened the GC was 182).

GCOS started recognising the copied games when I set the laser from 145 to 200. (Though why it didn't work originally at 182 I have no idea)

I have managed to get a few of the backed up games to go further than the loading screen (the furthest I have got is with Burnout2, I get passed the first loading screens, the menus and the stage select, it loads up the game but as soon as I see the car on the road, just before I actually get to control it, I get errored. very annoying)

I've dvdinfo'd the backups I have and they all seem fine. They are all the right size on the minidvd's and according to these forums I should be weel on my way playing the buggers, but no the console is adamant to not let me play any backed up games.

I have an 06 version of the GC (I think, the loading screen on the GCOS says 06) and original games play perfectly fine no matter what laser setting the console is at.

The most widespread performance was at around 145 ohms, that is, most games were recognised at this setting, though I have put it back up to 170 to be on the safe side.

The two games which have thıs far worked the best are metroid prime2 and burnout 2, though no actual gameplay has taken place :)

I know this has been discussed for years on this forum, and I've been trying the tips and directions on the various forums, it just hasn't worked! There seem to be too many different variables, and it seems there is no exact universal working POT setting.

Please someone with a new idea, heeeelp!!!

    Thanks

    Hi there.

I just bought my SD Media Launcher 1Gb last week... Luckly it all worked very well on my Gamecube and i could run without any problems some of my backups (Zelda TP and Paper Mario Golden Door).

At first i got some errors, but after burning again at 1x, both worked very well..

I would thank for this post that helped me a lot..

I have one question, its possible to use SD Media Launcher as Memory Card? My memory card its full with saves from other games and i want to use this since it has 1Gb os almost free space :).

On the Gamecube MemoryCard menu its says i cannot use the memory card on slot B (where teh SD Media Launcher is placed).

    I own a Pal Gamecube.

    Thanks.

semontrax, in response to your question. I've found that the 8cm DVD-R media AND the drive used to burn them have a massive effect. I used an LG drive at first, and fior every one disc that worked I'd have three or four that didn't. I bought a Pioneer DVD-RW DVR-112D and have found that EVERY game works if using either Traxdata or Bulkpaq media. I burn them with Imgburn at 2x speed. I still have my LG drive too, and have tried the discs in there but have found that they won't work. Also, have tried Datasafe discs and have found that they don't work at all.
    I hope this helps you.
Btw, I got rid of the black screen problem by reformatting my SD card and everything works fine now. Now, if only I could get the GCOS to work with Action Replay 1.14 rather than just 1.08...........)

Where is a good site to get cheap gamecube cover replacements so I can use the full size DVD-R's? It's still kinda expensive to buy the mini ones and I have a lot of full size ones around. Also where is a good site to buy the gamebit drivers so I can remove the cover?

    Moved from

I have a question about this method of backing up a game. I will be using, http://www.tehskeen.com/forums/showthread.php?t=5097&page=1&pp=30 (newer version a page in), to make a backup of the games I own to a 2GB sd card and then burning them to a DVD-R (full size) on my pc.

I know I can run the GCOS, http://www.gamecubeos.com/modules/mydownloads/ , off of a action replay and the SDLOAD method, http://www.gc-linux.org/wiki/SDload , because I tried this on my un-modded gamecube with a original gamecube game; I started the SDLOAD and ran GCOS and choose the "boot the disc" with Mario party 4 in it and the game ran.

What I want to know is can someone change the source code of GCOS to have it understand the Wii's dvd drive so I can use full size DVD-R's in the Wii in gamecube mode? I know it doesn't understand the drive because I have tried it and when I select boot disc it sits there and says "mounting drive" and I can hear the dvd spin but nothing happen.

I know it can be done because the Genesis emulator at, http://www.tehskeen.com/forums/showthrea...9&page=1&pp=30, can understand the Wii's dvd drive when you are running the emulator.

Is the whole point of using sd media launcher is so you can run gcos? If it is then couldn't i use a sd card to gamecube converter instead because they are much cheaper

I've been searching and I have seen PAL and NTSC mentioned and how to force load the region, does anyone know if it is possible to have a JPN game force loaded onto an NTSC Gamecube? I would imagine there would be something like Freeloader that could be loaded onto to SD card to do something like this.

I've found a gamecube memory card to SD card adaptor, but don't have the disk to boot the gamecube from, is it possible to burn my own copy of that disk? I can't find a copy anywhere. I'm in the UK and will be getting the adaptor from the US for about £10.

    Thanks.

I can tell ya I sure as hell could not burn a copy of mine, locked up every app I tried - Which of course would leave me screwed should something happen to mine.

Anyone? I would like to know this too.

Do the games need to be burned or can they be ran right off an SD card?

you can't play official games off the sd media launcher but you can play homebrew and backups as shown in this tutorial

Yeah ok. But what if I run for example gcos and then I make it load a dol file (of a backup official game) from the sd card?

Ok, so mod chip or software mod, you still get into the DVD burning business.

I was starting to think it might be cool to get an SD card and use it for a while and then eventually when there are high capacity SD cards for real cheap, you could upgrade a put a bunch of games on one card SD card and never have to mess around with DVDs.

I saw a 64 GB flash drive on buy.com today, but very expensive - amazingly, it's sold out!

Anyway, so mod chip or software mod, you still get into the DVD burning business as of now - unless you do some crazy hard drive mod that takes hours, right? :)
