Softmodding an Xbox Tutorial

That's a dumb statement. Modding your Xbox opens it up to a WORLD of things you never even thought were possible. Being able to copy your games to the harddrive, run emulators like SNES, GENESIS, NINTENDO 64, etc. and homebrew programs like Xbox Media Center! I agree with you that people who hack and go on Xbox Live suck, but I see no problems with anyone wanting a modded Xbox...

 

God...it's fine if you want to mod your XBOX. There is nothing wrong with it unless you are a lame n00bler who can't win on XBOX live regularly and have to cheat.

Softmodding, even modding opens up almost endless possibilities to your XBOX. The Media Center, Emulation, Games played directly from your HD, and more.

XBOX modding wasn't and isn't made JUST so you could hack maps and your player on Halo 2, and use them against opponents to become the ultimate player.

Do some research before you open your mouth, MooSee2.

ok jonbtrini i got ur forum about the mod thign and then i try to connect on smartFTP v1.5 but it never allows me to connect. i use the right FTP Adress and the right username and password but it never allows me to fully connect and ideas why this is happening.

 

yea ive done plenty of research and ive been lookin for weeks but i can't find the right shit. also this is along the lines of modding but not really. i tried to copy the mechassault run linux onto my memory in the dashboard and that went fine. then i went to the blue screen and backed up the shit in ms and then installed the softmod, Evox, and the unleashed shit and now all of a sudden my xbox is all fucked up and i can't do shit on it. i can't play live anymore and i can't access anything besides the campaign and main menu. i can't even access my hard drive. any idea on wat i should do to fix this problem?

 

Yeah i know what went wrong, you tried to go on XBL with a modded Xbox and they banned you probably....DUH don't go on XBL with a modded Xbox!

 

@sexyman69- if you are banned from xbl then you are an idiot. Everyother post says dont go on xbl with you mods on. The only way to fix this is to change your eeprom. there are various tutorials on this but i do not know how myself

 

i do everything right but when ever i try to install ude it says that i have to upgrade to be able to install it or downgrade to install it and i cant seem to find how to do either

I believe you do not have the correct dashboard.

I was about to ask if you needed a specific dash, because I've read many other tutorials that specify the dash.

If a specific dash is needed Jon, then how do I go about upgrading/downgrading?

Also, I noticed in your tutorial, do you just need an XBL tab? You start up the XBOX, and the tab for XBL? I don't mean it to be a n00bler question Jon, but I don't want to go about fusking someone's XBOX up if they don't have a tab.

 

Yes, the Xbox Live tab is how you upgrade/downgrade your dash....just put in any Xbox Live enabled game and click Xbox Live and it'll update your dash...don't worry you don't need an XBL account or to sign up for anything...

 

i have an xbox live account just if i did need a special dash board where do i go to get that

ps. if i needed an upgrade for my dashboard how or where do i get that

 

I've clicked on the XBL thing while using the game, Mechassault, and it doesn't seem like it does anything, but Hell, I'm a n00bler to the XBOX, so I wouldn't know. Either something's not working for me or it just goes extremely fast

I have no clue what you're asking BiggJake, but I'm guessing it's about the update for your dashboard.

If you are using MechAssault, simply click on the live part of options, multiplayer, i.e wherever it's located. From what Jon's said, it will automatically update your dash.

 

I think your tutorial is absolutely the best softmodding tutorial I've ever seen.

The only question I have is, what's the procedure for getting your XBOX back if you jack up the bios? You mentioned the backup, but if someone screws it up, what good is the backup? Aren't you just left with a pretty black and green paperweight that lights up a bit when you leave it on?

Are you using the Ldots itools? It sounds to me like you are using the Morden's Audio Hack tutorial, since it is preformed with 007.

If you are in fact using Morden's Audio Hack, grab a copy of MechAssault, and install the XBL updates. If you've played games with higher dash updates, (Halo 2 surely) then I cannot help you. I am clueless on how to downgrade
