Softmodding an Xbox Tutorial

hi. i was just wondering. regarding the AR can i use the AR usb memory stick for game saves etc.. to get the soft mod to work? if i can please can you tell me how to get it working. thanx

 

I successfully installed this mod. I put in a pal verison of juiced and it still did not work. I am using everything that the tutorial recommanded. Do I still need to use ntsc games. The media I tried to sony DVD+r and then I used staples dvd-r. I have never had a probelm with either media. (knock on wood) any suggestions as why this is happening.

@tgarrido - there shouldn't be any reason that your bios should get messed up. The installer installs the proper most up to date bios for you anyway so i don't know what you'd want to change...

@prodigy42 - with a softmod, you will be able to play PAL or NTSC games, it doesn't matter. You most likely burned the game incorrectly, which is why the game won't boot. Try looking up a tutorial on how to burn Xbox games properly, I would post one, but i'm sure there are already some in the Xbox forums here on Afterdawn...

 

Once I put the game in the xbox will it boot up like a regualer. When I burn the dvd at 1x it jumps to 2.4x is their I can fix it.

 

prodigy42 - Xbox drives and DVD media are two subjects that NEVER go hand in hand...you have to do A LOT of research to find out which drives (Thomson, Phillips, Samsung) support what brand and format of DVDs (TDK? Ritek? Sony? / + or -?) so it's not an exact science...

Okay, nevermind. I figured it out. So now I have the different files from xbins. One is called ITools MA 1.7.5 and ITools MA 1.8.5 and Itools 007 and another is called Itool_dashes. So, my question is...which one is the Splinter Cell one and why are there two versions of MA? Feel free to smite me if this has already been posted.

There should be a file that is named "ltools_v1.7.5_SC_NTSC". That is the one for Splinter Cell. If you have trouble getting it, PM for details.

@Slith - Thanks for your assistance on this thread...it's becoming quite a burden to answer all these questions (most of them being questions i've already answered numerous times) and it's good to see someone who's not completely unaware or doesn't know anything about what they're trying to do before doing it!

 

Now this is all sweet info guys, but i am a SERIOUS noob here. But how do i softmod Halo2, i cant seem 2 find anywhere where it will tell me, just Splinter Cell and MechAssalt. PLEEEEZE HELP!

 

i dont know if this is usesul to anyone but i didnt know where to post it. most softmods can only be used on new maps and i know a way to always load them. you slide something like someplaying cards into the disc tray and it wont be able to read the disc so it loads the maps that are saved on the xbox. my cousin taught me this because we dont mod but a friend of his does he loads for the kid.

This is not the thread to ask for halo 2 hacks or tools. Natae117, if you are really into hex editing, then google it or go to xbox-scene.

 

ok i have downloaded the itools 1.7.5 ntsc for SC but i cant find it does anyone know where it would be located!!???!!!???

If you followed my tutorial, I can honestly say that it will either be in your documents or in a folder of your selection.

Otherwise, search for it.

 

i rented mechasault and clicked xbox live it started upgrading soething but then when i went to 007 to download the ude install it still said downgrade/upgrade what do i do to fix that?

 

@Biggjake - Man i don't know what to tell you dude. First off, you're not giving me an EXACT error message, so I don't know exactly what the problem is. Secondly, if you rented MechAssault, why didn't you just go ahead and mod the Xbox with that instead of Splinter Cell?
