    Hi whiskey99,
I just hope your day goes much better than mine did yesterday. [IMG]
Sorry I lost my cool and jumped you about changing the computer. I had spent about 2 hours working up a fix for it and then when I got your HJT Log, I saw changes that meant I would have to re-write the whole thing. But, as they say, Life is not a Merry-Go-Round; it’s a full blown RollerCoaster with lots of ups and downs.. Wheeeeeee

I’ll calm down and re-write the fix and we can get your son’s computer in good shape for him to use.. That is, if you can forgive me for showing my butt. [IMG]

    What say?

    Thanks for the flowers, aldan.

As you know, I have always tried to write my instructions as High Level as possible so that even the Novice operator can understand them. I very seldom loose my cool when a Novice branches off on his own and doesn't read and follow the path I lay out.

Here, whiskey99 was so intent on getting to his son's computer that a lot of crap is left in his and its not fully protected from future infection. But, if he thinks he will be able to take care of it, more power to him, I hope he succeeds and I wish him the best of luck.

I didn’t really need to apologize for anything, but I did just to satisfy myself for loosing my cool. It’s seldom that I do that but, as I get older my tolerance level seems to be coming down some. One of these days I may have to change the “2old” in my handle to “TooOld”. LMAO

    Still, 2oG

Are you 71?? I'll be 71 next month... That gives us some common ground to plow.. LOL

Sorry, but I got a little upset when you abandoned your computer, that still needed some work, to work on your son's. I like to finish one job before starting another.. I used to work on 6 or 7 computers at the same time and could keep up with all of them but, it's just too confusing for me to bounce around anymore. Multitasking went out the window several years ago. lol

We can do it but, which one do you want to work on???

HI,I was going to ask how this should be handled, are the scans you may have alright or do you want to run new ones and do you want to run them one at a time or all at once, thanks
    Will be 72 in July.

This is your son's computer, Right???

I will work up some stuff today and get it back to you. I have the logs I need.. I will change some things and am not going to give you any choices. It will be for the better so, just do what I say and nothing else!

I'll be 71 in May and still work 40+ hours a week for a hotel chain. I've been there for 25yrs and know the hotel inside out. I bounce around wherever I'm needed, IT Dept. computers, Engineering and what ever else comes up. Every time I say I'm gonna retire, faces turn pale.

I don't have much time during the week so this may take some time. Bare with me and I'll get back to you later today.

    Yeah, no rush please.. lol

Go to add/remove programs and uninstall these (if they are still there)

    Ad-Aware
    Spybot - Search & Destroy
    Java(TM) 6 Update 37
    Java 7 Update 10
    Avast

    Download and re-install Avast 8 -> http://download.cnet.com/Avast-Free...0019223.html?part=dl-85737&subj=dl&tag=button

    You should still have HijackThis:

    • Double Click on Hijackthis to Run.
    • Click on "Do A system scan and save a logfile" (if you do not see "Do A system scan and save a logfile" then click on main menu)
    • Hijackthis will scan and then a log will open in notepad.
    • Copy and paste the entire contents of the log in your next post.
    • Do not have Hijackthis fix anything yet. Most of what it finds will be harmless or even required.

Please post the HJT Log in your next reply.

It's OK to uninstall if you can. That's just the Java Cache that has built up in an outdated program that's eating up memory......

If it won't let you uninstall, just skip and I'll get it later from here.
