I'm basically new to computing and have recently tried to download video footage to my pC but the image pixer 1.5 software when i download does not "pick up" audio. I've looked at amending the prefernces but am unsure of what options to choose. How do I decide or do i just obtain a firewire lead ???

I guess you're capturing through an analog capturing card. Many of those don't have an audio input but rely on your audio card. You should have sound if you connect the camcorde soudn output to your audio card input.
But...you're much better of by going through Firewire. Better quality, hassle free and video/audio comes in over the same line; never async between audio and video...
