i'd like to know what are the differences between the following recorders and which of them you'd consider the best one (and why):

    Sony CRX-230A
    Sony CRX-230E
TDK 52x24x48x (I couldn't find the model number)

regarding sony, are CRX-230E, CRX-230E-WG, CRX-230E1-WG the same thing? (same question for CRX-230A and CRX-230A-U.)

    thanks in advance

As for the other model , i have no clue what it could be -- Sony web site reports ""no such a model"

I know i did. But that's my more "objective side". If you compare say a Sony 52x and an ASUS 52x -- you will most likely find the Sony is more expensive and less capable. Of that list I gave, Sony is the last but in all fairness they probably do deserve to be on list.

Its not so much that i went against myself but rather, as you can see, to me, [o]Sony is a midline company producing midline products at topend prices.[/o] Sorry for the confusion :)
