When ripping a DVD to my HD using DVD Decrypter my read speed maxes out at 1.x when the listed DVD read speed of the drive is 16x. I have read other posts that have determined that firmware was the cause. I also have seen that several users are using this same drive. Was anyone able to rip at a higher rate on this drive with a firmware hack or through other means?

tigerg19, I have the same reader. Mine rips quicker than can be. Of course, I am not a young fella anymore, so I don't use hacked firmware to try to speed up something that already reads at fast speeds.

I don't think that you have used a hack firmware, or you would have probably said so. Check out your DMA settings as suggested by Nephilim. Post back what your find out.
