   I was wondering why when burning in img burn that my burner will only burn at 2x even if i change my speed to 16x(I know not to burn at that speed) but I was just wondering why its not working.

   What brand of discs are your using - like Sony +R 16x?
   
   Firmware up to date on the burner?
   
   Sounds like it may not be or the discs don't support going higher than 2x (possible poor quality media).
   ImgBurn will give you the 'true' burn speed. There is fluctuation during the burn process.
   
   Make sure all your drives are in DMA mode too - here's a guide
