Sony DVD CRX830E

    I have this cd-rw/dvd drive through sony and the cd is working fine but the dvd is not even coming up under hardware? I called sony but they were as useful as roadmap in the desert so hoping someone here can give me a hand. any suggestions?

    Try looking at the jumper pin for Master, Slave, and Cable select.. if its hooked up to the same cable as another device(cd drive, or hdd) then it needs to be different then the other drive... like if u have a hdd on it thats set to Master you set your cd drive to Slave... if there the same then the hardware wont work.

    well I might not have made sense the first time let me try this again

    I have a cd/rw dvd internal drive, it's all one drive

    the cd/rw is fine, dvd won't play a thing

    any ideas, anyone?
