Thanks for the help Agak, I think I got most of it figured out now. Two things though: I don't have a floppy disk drive, and I don't know how to use the DMI reader even if I did have one. Sorry for the noobish question but how can I run the DMI reader succesfully?

I ran the MDI boot disk and got "P4i65G". Thats not as long as the sony model number so I deleted the extra chars and put that in. There were two places in the Setup.ini file with PCV and I replaced both. When trying to install now it says "An error occured while launching the setup(0x80040801)". Did I do something wrong or does this just mean it isn't going to work with my computer?

Of course it won't run without ENX-15 card.

Sorry but no.
You may be able to change the main board DMI info to the XP Pro version, but a mistake will make your maim board unusable.
Keep searching, someone will have one.
I would not put on the original image if I didn't have to.

After using the last link you posted the install seemed to go smooth, however when I run I get "SMBE VXD_CreateFile Error" title bar of that says "smenc dll", am I missing some dll file? Then I get the hardware overlay error which I'm sure you've seen, if you haven't I can quote it too. Any advice?

Hey I'm not getting sound out of my ENX-26. I'm not sure what files i got the drivers from and I'm not using a Vaio computer with it. I have video just no sound.

I re-evaluated my MCE drivers and these are what are needed.(I missed the smrt.cat file)

These are not for XP Home or Pro.
Use Device manager to replaced-update driver files and browse to these drivers for MCE.
If working but no audio, are you missing a audio connection cable?

smenc.dll is in the gigapocket folder. ENX-15 is very picky on display drivers. Once works, this card is excellent for a/v in and a/v out. I am using display drivers from esupport.sony.com
Original video card. Have used it with a ATI card but had to try a bunch of drivers to find one compatible. Wrong driver and pc would reboot everytime I clicked on Gigapocket recorder. Timer rec and Video explorer would work ok even without proper driver. I am now running MCE with GigaPocket v4.3 w/ENX-15 card. I cannot find a driver for the Media Center application, but GigaPocket is ok.
Also I cannot run the GigaPocket with the ENX-26 card on MCE without messing up Window Media Center Application. DRIVERS DRIVERS DRIVERS !

 

Mattie, you are definitely missing an audio cable. What you need is a 4 pin "B" cable that hooks up to the B connection on the enx card and connects to your soundcard. Then you would double click on your speaker icon in the system tray (or go into sound in control panel) and select options, then properties - and make sure AUX is checked, then unmute AUX and turn it up.

Agak, i have the drivers working the you posted with MCE - what are these added files that you have just posted for systmwolf? I noticed the original download doesnt have a .cat file, but they are working anyway so maybe I should just leave them alone?

I found that dll and its in the fold like you said. Your drivers comments made me realize I had not done anything with the driver folder you included. It has that .cat file in it and I don't know where to put it. Tried it in system32/drivers with no luck. Tried it in Sony/Giga Pocket with no luck. Maybe I'm just in over my head trying to get this to work. If you have advice though it would be much appreciated.

Well, when i saw the cord you showed me it looked really big and looks like it wouldnt fit in the ENX-26. Well here's a picture of my sound card. (Sorry the pics are a bit blurry)

Mattie, whats the exact make an model of your sound card? I will need to look online as I can't see much on those pictures.

To make AUX appear, follow these steps:

1)Double click on your speaker icon in the system tray.

2)In the upper left hand corner click on OPTIONS -> then click PROPERTIES.

3)Now put a check mark in the box that says AUX and click ok.

 

Oh sorry. =] All I could find was that it's an ESS 1969 PCI and on the card it says ES1938S.

Also, in the "smrt_m.inf" file (h__p://www.megaupload.com/?d=U17QOVVY), where do I extract all the files to?

should fit both of your connections

For the driver file you downloaded,
1)Extract it to a folder on your desktop.
2)Right click on My Computer
3)Select Properties
4)click on the Hardware tab
5)click on the Device Manager button
6)scroll down to the "Sound, video and game controllers" section and expand by hitting the + plus sign
7)right click on Sony Mpeg Realtime Encoder Board
8)select Update Driver
9)when windows asks, click on "Yes this time only" and click next, then "Install from a specific location" and click next
10) check the box that says "Include this location in the search" and then click browse and select the folder you extracted the driver files to on your desktop. Click next and the driver will install.
