Hardware: Sony Vaio PCV-RX550 with a built in IEEE1394 port (Sony i.LINK)
Software: WindowsXP, DVgate, MovieShaker, Smart Capture, and all the Sony stuff
    Camcorder: Panasonic PV-DV910

this is the FIRST time i'm ever using this since i finally have time to get around to doing it. anyway, how am i supposed to set this up? i KNOW there's more to it than connecting the camcorder to the port. i open up DVgate, and the video from my camcorder doesn't showing up. same thing for all the other programs. how do i get this to capture?

Your pc has to recognize the camcorder (of course). Make sure it's powered on in playback mode when you fire up your software. You might also try to find new hardware in Control Panel while the cc is on and in play mode.
