sony ilink to firewire cable

    I just bought ths sony hc32 minidv camera. The instrustions say the only way to transfer in high quality is through this ilink cable. Im not going to buy a sony computer just to do this. Any help would be appriciated. Thanks.

    Good news for you: you don't have to buy a Sony computer: iLink=Firewire=IEEE1394
    Get yourself a Firewire cable (if it was not already included), connect to your PC and you're ready to roll.

    also, an unsolicited testimonial- AVID has released AVID FREE, a free downloadable program that uses the same Firewire to control your camera as an input deck during editing.

    If you don't have a Firewire port on you computer- don't pay too much for an adapter card; you can get one off ebay for $10 or less... mallwarts wants $30 for the same thing!:]

    I can tell you there are many freeware programs that you can use (for example AMCAP).
