Ced, Yes i understand, your numbers are more on the money than Sony being your breaking down the 780 vs 1080 res. i am going to invest in a Upconvert DVD player right away plus a new receiver so i can take advantage of the HDMI output .any brands you recommend? the samsung looks good i not going with HD-DVD just yet. and when do you work Ced

From looking at the two I think that the Denon is the better because it is THX Ultra 2 certified although the Yamaha supports HDMI 1.2a while the Denon only supports 1.1. The only difference is SACD support via HDMI for the Yamaha (the Denon uses its Denon link to pass SACD digitally).

Hey guys have been reading this post & it seems this is the one I need to read.

I had a Hitachi 51 in. rear projecton HD Ready TV that just went out on me.( had it for 3 years) I purchased it at Circuit City, & luckily purchased their Advantage Protection Plan.

I waited for 2 months to get my set repaired w/ no luck. They waited for the parts to come in from Hitachi. No luck on getting the parts in so, CC gave me back (in store credit)every single penny that I paid for it,3 years ago. Originally paid $2160 for it.

So I've been also my eye on the Sony KDS50A200. Right now CC has on sale for $2199. I have to get it @ CC of course, I saw earlier that someone said they saw the 55 in. for less or almost as much as the
    50 ?
I will be viewing my TV from about 10-12 feet away.

I was trying to find out how, or where I could find the lowest price for the 55in. I know CC has a price match guarantee, but I wonder if thats just for retail stores, or will they match online stores as well ?

Have been looking at this TV for about a week now, in the store. Really like it but, the Standard definition(analog)signal looks like crap on it. I do receive HD channels(via Cable) & also do have an upconversion DVD player
( the OPPO OPDV971H, has been a great DVD Player )It has DVI output only, but I do have a DVI to HDMI adapter. Will that work, still upconvert ? because my current TV only has 1 DVI input & I'm using that currently w/ my HD box.

Would like to get some major input, from everyone here as soon as I can. I'm planning to make this purchase by this weekend, if not for sure by next weekend.

dabig25, that set has 2 HDMI inputs so you should be ok

i got the 50 inch and exchanged it for the 60 inch and wow the 60 drawfs the 50 inch. Best Buy carries the Sony SXRD line also so check there for a price match. i think the guy that posted that price on the 55" didn't have the correct info i have never seen it that cheap. i know for sure CC can order you either model if they don't have it the 50" 55" or 60" go with the biggest set you can its worth the extra dollars. and the viewing distance isn't a problem here is what Sony recommends

    50" 6.6 feet
    55" 6.8 feet
    60" 7.0 feet

SO go for the 60 inch if you can swing it i got mine for 3099.00 at Best Buy and CC will match that if that what BB is selling it for when your buying, theses are the best sets for the money on the market IMHO !! i don't think they can price match with online retailers

I just went to C.C & looked again at the Sony KDS50A2000 LCD(50 inch), on sale for $2199.

& also saw the Samsung HLS5687W DLP (56 inch )on sale for $2079.

I liked the picture quality on the Samsung better. The picture looked better even viewing at an angle.

I'm starting to lean toward the Samsung. They both are 1080P & both have 2 HDMI inputs.

I am a big Sony fan, don't get me wrong. But it seems like you get more w/ the Samsung @ a lesser price. The Samsung also accepts 1080P.

amazon.com has it for $2350 including shipping but of course no 30 day return policy. It was me who saw the 55" at $2250 at a Fry's and BestBuy when I was shopping for the 50" and believe me it was real and that price at both stores (this was like a month ago). I asked the guy and they said it was normal in the area if everyone else was selling at the price. I honestly couldn't believe they had it next to a 50" which was $150 more.

I ended up returning my 50A2000 although it was great, just too big.

So what did you get instead ?

I have to purchase it @ CC, because I have a $2160 store credit.

    @VJbob

Are you sure it wasn't the KDF model instead of the KDS Sony 55in. model that you saw that cheap ?

no trust me it was the SXRD A2000 but its a moot point since the sale is no longer offered.

I ended up going LCD and am pretty happy.

I'm thinking about going into CC today & getting the 55 inch.

I'll be viewing the TV @10- 12 feet away. @ all times.

dabig25 , so basically you won't get the benfit at 10 to 12 feet with the 1080p res but you will with the 720p res

are you going with the Sony or the Samsung?

and remember you have 30 days to price match if the set drops in price

the Sony would still be my pic

Yeah I got the 55 in. KDS55A2000.........w/ free delivery.

I'm gonna finance the difference. About $900 w/ 2 year protection plan included.

The financing is w/ NO interest till 2008.

dabig25 , you made the best choice the SXRDs look better than any of the LCDs.

remember i got the 60 inch for 3099.00 without the protection plan. if you decide within 30 days to exchange the 55" for the 60"
