I'm sure the answer is here in the forums somewhere, but I'm not finding it from various searches. I've used AVI2DVD to convert lots of movies for playing on my TV DVD player and never had any problems. However, I've got one movie that when I convert it, I end up with a movie that plays and has sound but just a black screen, no video at all. I can successfully play the AVI on my computer, but as soon as I try to play the AVI2DVD converted movie on my computer, I just have the black screen. The contents of the VIDEO_TS file look just like all the other movies that I've converted.

    Thanks,
    -Sheila

If you drag one of the .VOB files into MediaInfo does it list it as Mpeg2

Yep - All 5 of the VOB files show MPEG Video (Version 2). However, they show (NTSC) rather than the word (Component), if that matters. Here is a screen shot of one of the VOBs:

It should be 29.97fps for NTSC or 720X576 for PAL.

Perhaps try converting with DVD flick or FAVC if it's only this one file.
I find AVI2DVD too inconsistent for regular use.

Thanks - I'll download those others and give it a try.

    FAVC worked great.

I went back and looked at the avi file with that MediaInfo program and realized it was a PAL but the AVI2DVD software was not apparently picking that up and giving me the option to convert it to NTSC.

    Thanks much for your help.
