Ok, so when playing any audio files, I seem to get a wirey warped playback if I use anything in conjunction with my audio players. For instance, I could set my winamp to play and have my PC do nothing else and the playback is perfectly fine, in fact, at this very moment writing this, it's perfectly fine.

The problem is, If I load any other file and/or program the sound warps and is conveinently the most annoying thing in the world.

Im running Windows 98SE on this PC (old, I know) and the sound card is an ESS SOLO-1 PCI AudioDrive (old, I know) but I've never had any trouble with the thing before.

I've downloaded the latest released drivers for it and no go, same effect.

Any ideas as to what could be causing this?
