I know recording in LP mode is slower and will record longer, but is one better quality than the other. How much quality are we talking being the difference.

SP (60 Min) is better. I can see the difference when editing my vids. More distortion(LP) then SP when it comes to motion. But over-all it's not a huge obvious difference when seen on a TV set. On a computer monitor you will definatley see a diff but not by much either.

It's a big different between SP (standard) and LP (long) mode. But also it's depending on your video source. For something to keep, you should record at SP mode. All pro equipment won't play the LP tape.
