I'm using EAC with the LAME codec.

Maybe I'm just an idiot...okay, I'm probably an idiot, but perhaps someone can help me anyway.

I've got two Drives in my computer.

    Lite-On LTN486 48x Max
    PHILIPS DVD+RW-D01

The DVD is supposed to be able to read at 32x.

Neither drive can get over 4x, and the DVD drive rarely tops 2x.

I've run over 100 music CDs through here...any thoughts or suggestions?

EAC secure mode performs verification reads that slow down the process. Does your drive support C2? Test it with EAC and enable if it does - will improve speed a lot. Note that very few drives report C2 errors accurately.

My LITE ON 486 does not, but I had it reevaluate the settings and now its reaching 5-7x speeds. (With secure mode but not C2)

The DVD does support C2, but it only increases the speed to 2.5x

    Thanks for the quick reply.

Just a follow-up. I've decided after searching the net, reading reviews, and checking pricewatch.com, to purchase the LITEON LTD163 DVD-ROM. It is supposed to have some of the best and fastest DAE around. I'll post further when I've had a chance to install and use it.
