Taiyo Yuden does not, as of yet, make DL discs(if something has changed someone let me know). Stick with the Verbies! And use +R's and booktype to DVD-ROM for best compatability. Personally i ditched Nero a long time ago in favor of ImgBurn. It's the best burn engine out there IMHO.
I just checked for DL TY discs and could find none. I'll check out imgburn. Thanks for the booktype tip. but I am curious, why DVD+R?
in the beginning, there were compatibility issues with some players and the -rtype of media. Booktyping +r's helped cure this problem. I myself always use -r's and haven't had a problem, and any newer dvd player (5 years or so) shouldn't have any issues either. I know there are differing opinions on this, this is just mine. and, Ty's are a top notch media, you should have no probelems with them, give imgburn a try... it's easy and in my experience more reliable than Nero.
DVDShrink has a target option for "Burn with Nero". Is there an equivalent interface for imgburn? or do I write and ISO and then use imgburn? I have been using Ripit4me and its 'almost' one-click if I use the dvdshrink->nero target.... EDIT: nm... I found a version of shrink which has a imgburn target option: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/521885 Thanks for the help, although it does not look like my drive will support the booktype change, and I still have a stack o' blank dvd-r anyway... I'll try imgburn anyway, just for the heck of it.
rseery, I use Ritek +R dl 2.4x (JoeRyan the media guru here at aD said these were OK). I use only Imgburn to burn dl. I burn on a Liteon external burner (Imgburn can booktype this burner to dvd-rom for best compatibility). I've done hundreds of dl's at about 99.9% success (lost 1 for some unknown reason ?) For normal backups, I use TY's -R's and burn at 4x with Imgburn. 100% success. Imgburn, IMHO is the best burning engine out there, and best of all, it's FREEEEEEE ! Why +R ? because +R can be booktyped/bittyped, whereas -R cannot (no use trying, it is a fact -R cannot be booktyped = bityped) BTW you are welcome, and welcome to aD.
