I was just planning on using DVD shrink. You can set the start and end frames for the two DVDs you want to make from the original file.

DVD Shrink works great! It's great the way that it can compress the DVD files to less than 4.3 GB. And you can remove the extra stuff..
    Anymore hints & helpful tips?

Try IFOedit. It is the best solution to split a dvd_9 to 2 X dvd_5. This solution is still most cheaper, by far, instead of a dvd_9 to dvd_9 1 : 1 copy!!!
The same program lets you to drop all unwanted items from the original disc.

Seems easier to just compress with shrink for 1 DVD.
