    Ran Ad Aware, Spybot, Advanced windows care- thought I killed everything the programs found - but - it keeps coming back. IE popups while using Firefox. The lsass.dll is malware, but keeps returning.

    Hi!

    I don't see any firewall running on your computer? Please download one from here

    After Downloading & Installing firewall -->

    I don't see any anti-virus program running on your computer? Please download one from here
    ========
    Make a new folder for HijackThis! Not like this:
    C:\Documents and Settings\xpc\Desktop\HiJackThis_v2.exe

    but yes like this: C:\Hjt\HijackThis!!

    Run HijackThis
    Click on do a system scan only
    Place a checkmark next to these lines(if still present)

    O2 - BHO: MSVPS System - {2724E072-19D0-486d-A819-9D914191AE92} - C:\WINDOWS\ietools.dll
    O20 - AppInit_DLLs:
    O21 - SSODL: mssms - {7C6DEE59-56B4-4780-A52F-0BB0B884E759} - C:\WINDOWS\mssms.dll

    Then close all windows except Hijackthis and click Fix Checked

    ========
    Step 1: Download and Install SDFix
    Download SDFix and save it to your Desktop.

    Double click SDFix.exe and it will extract the files to %systemdrive%
    (Drive that contains the Windows Directory, typically C:\SDFix)

    Step 2: Run SDFix

    * Open the extracted SDFix folder and double click RunThis.bat to start the script.
    * Type Y to begin the cleanup process.
    * It will remove any Trojan Services and Registry Entries that it finds then prompt you to press any key to Reboot.
    * Press any Key and it will restart the PC.
    * When the PC restarts the Fixtool will run again and complete the removal process then display Finished, press any key to end the script and load your desktop icons.
    * Once the desktop icons load the SDFix report will open on screen and also save into the SDFix folder as Report.txt
    (Report.txt will also be copied to Clipboard ready for posting back on the forum).
    * Finally paste the contents of the Report.txt back on the forum with a new HijackThis log

    Hi,

    Thanks for the help. Had to system restore since my last posting. A couple of hijackthis entries wouldn't "fix", but after I did the steps in the correct order, it's getting better. Still have lsasss running in my task manager processes and won't allow deletion. Here are updated reports: Oh, the administrator account has disappeared since sdfix report generated.

    Your log looks clean.

    You mean this: C:\WINDOWS\system32\lsass.exe

    That's part of Windows. Do not delete it.
