Just incase im not here tomorrow if your looking for help

The most common issue when installing the USB adapter and driver is selecting the correct port for your map software to recognize.

You must make sure your particular software is looking on the correct port for it to transfer any data.

To see which port your USB adapter is connected to, connect your USB adapter and follow the following instructions:

    1. Go to the Start Menu
    2. Right click on "My Computer"
    3. Select "Properties"
    4. Click on the "Hardware" tab
    5. Click on "Device Manager"
    6. Click the + sign next to "Ports (COM & LPT)"
    7. One of the listed ports should indicate which port your USB adapter is connected to (e.g. COM1, COM2, COM3, etc.)
    8. Go back to your map software program that you use to transfer data and make sure it is looking at the correct port.
    9. You should be able to transfer data once the correct port is selected

If you need drivers go here

    http://www.gilsson.com/usb_drivers_download.htm

    Updating Firmware

Connect your box and PC with a Null modem cable and switch on the cable box and put it on STANDBY.
(The Starvi*w does not need to be connected to TV to update it with GTROM)

Open GTROM Loader software make sure that you set the correct COM PORT
that matches the one that is being used

Make sure App file only is selected, then click Bin File & browse to the firmware where you downloaded it to on your PC.

Run the GTROM loader by pressing Download and you will see the % progress increase
then Download completed message on your PC.
Wait until you see the DOWNLOAD COMPLETE pop up on your PC before
removing the NULL MODEM CABLE. The Starvi*w will then reboot

Disconnect from PC and connect back up to the TV

I have a twin tuner Star View cable PVR and I've tried to make sense of a couple of things using the threads on this forum but with all the reference to genuine and clone boxes I'm a bit confused!

Occasionally it fails to record a program; sometime I get static image and nothing else for the duration of the recording, sometimes I get a blank screen for the duration of the recording and I've even had audio but no image. Sometimes when I turn it on it's stuck on something like 'scrambled or bad channel' though if you get it off it and come back to that channel it decodes just fine! It seems like this has only started happening recently.

I was hoping that upgrading the firmware would sort things out, let me know if anyone has any other suggestions, but have a question. When I get th box to display it's spec it says it's "The Box PVR, Dual record PVR, e_Ver 4.000 8 Jun 2007", which folder on http://eko.4shared.com/account/home.jsp should I be looking in? Starview_PVR or 'The Box T'(I presume the T stands for twin tuner?)? My best guess is that it's the former, but don't want to screw the thing up!

    Cheers in advance!

You will find the latest PVR firmware BoxPVR_E_v4506_15Oct.rar in the Starview PVR Firmware folder, I put it there last week.

They dont roll because the emm i think they call them are not in there for them to roll but the box does roll and all the others i would not say there are many of the old starviews left anyway most are either dead or dont work or people have upgraded them
