Evening guys, I hope everyone is well. I have The Box with the following firmware.

    THE BOX
    API ver : 4.51e
    Boot ver : 7.0

I get all the channels so no problems there. I ran another scan with v4.51 and noticed a whole host of new channels being picked up - unfortunately, they all display 'bad or scrambled channel'. My existing channels have remained intact.

I was just interested to know if there was anything I could do to pick up these new channels. I'm on TW in Birmingham.

    Many thanks in advance.

    Bal

    Scouser,
just a query, i have the same version as johndo:

    API ver: 4.54e
    Boot ver:7.0
    22 Oct 2007

have tried to download 450 bin file with GT Rom,
    Serial Port: Com Port 1
    Baud Rate: 115200
    STB Model: GCR 3510
    File Type: App File Only

fails for 'cant open serial port', i have a usb-serial in series with null modem cable, tried a few different bin files without any success. also i cant seem to access any hidden menus via parental ctrl etc. channel scan finds all channels but with restrictions $ sign, then 'scambled or bad channel'. I'm in castleknock area with basic ntl (15 euro p/m type), would i have to get them to re-instate me on the digital package if i got channels unscrambled?,
    any help would be appreciated,
    thanks,
    rob

From the Device Manager window open up the Ports icon.
Right-click on the USB Serial Port icon.
    Click on Properties.
Click on the Port Settings tab.
From the Port Settings window click on the Advanced button.
In the Advanced Setting window, use the COM Port Number field to change the assigned COM port.
    Click on OK.

Try it from a standalone pc with a 9 way serial port and just the null modemcable.

    scouser,
at long last got it working, it wouldnt download prob due to usb-serial cable (even though it was new), cause i went to a mates and hooked it straight to his pc with just a null modem cable as u suggested and it downloaded right away. had to change codes etc and do factory reset in the cas menu, now working fine, many thanks. all the trouble cause i didn't have access to a pc & provider sent a serialrs232 with it! thanks again,
    rob

Glad you got it sorted as it updates much better from a PC than a Laptop
