Don't think that is your problem but PAL 1 is the UK setting, there are a few people been having that problem since that box came out, it seems to be a firmware problem, some report that different firmwares solved the problem, but obviously I know that you need the A/U - but that is the correct UK setting.

My SV3 has always had the reboot 'quirk'. It came with API v8.00e, I tried earlier versions a while ago and it still did it. I was hoping it got sorted with v8.02e, but alas it never. However, maybe it is just my imagination or a coincidence, but it has done it a lot less since this recent flash....just once this week, in fact.

Hi, I've checked back a few pages to make sure I'm not repeating anything, but I haven't seen anything on here that is the same as my problem.

I have Starview 3 The Box Super and have downloaded the latest fix from 4shared. I have connected my laptop to the box and tried flicking through the ports etc (COM 1 COM 2 etc) but whenever I click download there is an error.
I've seen old guide for the last firmware and it says 'Use App File only' or similar, and click the BIN file, but I can't with this one.
If anybody could help me, or direct me to some help, I would be very grateful.

The Starview 3 The Box Super is a UFL (Unified Firmware and Loader) all in one in other words, and you just press download, where did you get the firmware from, was it from Eamo's FTA Library? and are you UK? and are you using a USB Adaptor? and have you definately got a NULL MODEM lead? - lot of questions but need to know before I can attempt to point you in the right direction.

I have pressed download and an error message comes up, maybe i have to set the port to something else?
I got the firmware from the thread stating that all the other threads have been closed, which listed all the fixes. I'm using an RS232 cable, connected via a USB converter and I am in the UK.

I hope you can help from that :)

While you're waiting for the senior members to advise you, who know more than I, may I suggest that you look in device manager on your PC (Control Panel - System - Hardware - Device Manager). When in device manager, open up 'Ports (COM & LPT)', and have a look what COM Port numbers have been assigned to the port you're using. Sometimes they're a greater number than 1-4, which means the ROM loader won't even see your box. My serial ports were COM6 and COM7...I went in and changed them to COM1 and COM2. Bingo! You change the COM number by right clicking on the COM port in question in device manager, select properties - advanced - then use the drop down box to change it to a number between 1 and 4 (if they're free), and click OK. One more thing, if it's a USB-Serial adaptor you're using, I think they have USB in the name in device manager, I'm just referring to a PC with the proper serial ports....but same thing applies, they all have COM port numbers assigned and they still have to be between 1 and 4 for the loader to communicate with your box.

    Best of luck, chief.

Hi, thanks for the help, I've opened up Device Manager but there is no Port option there. There are things like Monitor and Keyboards/Mice etc but no Ports. Any ideas?

Right, then the most likely cause is that you have not got the Adaptor correctly assigned to a COMM port, also you should have been supplied with drivers for the Adaptor, and make sure also that you have not got a RS232 straight through serial lead, they are practically identical but wired differently, and I hope that you are not using Vista, because the drivers are different again. First go to the link marked Eurovox at the bottom of my post, and check out the similarity of the leads etc. it is for a different box - but it is exactly the same method and procedure in flashing the box's, have a look at the instructions to assign the Adaptor whilst there. Then go to the link marked Starview and look through and follow the guide for flashing the Starview.

I am on Vista, yeah. Just been told there is a CD for the drivers, after being previously told there wasn't. I hope the two cables are the same. I'll wait and see if the drivers make any odds, then check back and ask away, if you don't mind

Don't mind at all, so presumably you have found the disc - but as I said the drivers for Vista are completely different, so make sure that you have the correct drivers.

Yep, thought so, but your best bet is to get a loan of a PC Standalone from a friend, with the 9pin port on the back, and you will find that it is really very simple. But come back anyway when you have the correct gear, there will be someone here to help.

the fixes are available for all boxes except starview one...some people are trying to fix this by trying their hand at progrmming, the starview one box fix will depend on these people coming up with one.
