i suggest you use an xp machine for doing it or you might have problems

the links at the bottom of my signiture are working no prob at all here

 

Right thats the cable ordered but i thought £12.99 was rather steep.

Now when the cable arrives i take it all i have to do is connect the box to the pc and send the files to the usb drive disconnect from pc then connect to the eithernet port and tv.

Once this is done do i just install as before

xp is the best for doing boxes

 

i only have vista so this probably rules me out of even thinking about this now.

 

no u can get a usb to null modem coverter and try it

 

you may have to download the drivers for it to work on vista
there is a link on the sticky post at the start of the thread

I Have Used vista to flash various versions of starview kryptview and dream boxes using a usb IBM adaptor and null modem cable and have never had a problem. Give it a go is what I say

90% of people that have vista have probs flashing boxes i suggest you try and borrow a xp pc

 

i agree with e45 if u can get to an other pc ps who,s spying on who

Can you let me know what would happen if i tried to install before i downloaded the firmware onto the box would i get any channels or could it knacker the box.
Ordered the adaptor for usb-null modem and just waiting for it to arrive.

no you wont get anything, you need the firmware for the box to work, you can scan the chans, but there is no point as you will have to flash the box with the new firmware and then factory reset and re-scan, so hold tight until you get the cable to do it
