If you only have a router yes
Also a few have got them going with just a modem aswell
But you can only use 1 at a time that way (Box or Computer)

    Hi All

I got an SV6 box this am.

I started reading this tutorial and already I'm stuck! Why do you have to plug the box into the router? I'm baffled!

I'm not card sharing just trying to get as many channels as I can if possible. Does the box have to be connected to the net even though I'm not sharing?

I'm totally fathomed and I've not even unpacked the box yet SIGH.

Any non techy help much appreciated!

    Susie

    Hi All,
I have the Starview HD box and I have set it up using the the latest software ( carling 0712) and connected it from my router to my box using homeplugs. All good to that point including ip setup on auto and numbers filled in etc, and Keyedit on, But my problem is it will not register to Ustream ( I'm in Edinburgh) it keeps saying Login failed error code (0)
Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong?

I have carling 1.01 on my sv6 box, would you recommend updating to 1.02?

What are the changes with the update?

Thanks for all your help, I know you put a lot into this forum with the excellent tutorials etc.

hi, i have a SV 6, LAN...have been using it for 3 months on VM in oldham..getting all channels.. but sometimes the box freezez/lose channels...and then 30 seconds later the channels would work again on its own.

Im also thinking of getting a SV 7, HD LAN combo, for use on SLY....do you guys think that would be better than VM?

    any1 with any suggestions pls?

    many thanks.

    Hi All

Just came on to say I've managed to set up the SV6 with a wireless router and the home plugs.

I couldn't have done it without you!

    Thanks for responding hooter...

I dont use a spliter...just one tv, one box, connected direct to main plug of N*L.

I have tried factory reset yesterday, and loaded the latrest file again (17 AUG), ....and now it only freezez for abour 10 seconds...where as before it was freezing for 30 seconds....

    any ideas?

and....which box would you recommend for use on SLY? i would prefer a HD LAN box...

    thanks for your help again...cheers.

    Hi there,
    Can comeone Please help..

I'm new to here but I had sv6 working fine up until I did a reset on my orange livebox router about a week ago, I had ALL chans, but since the reset I've lost the non fta chans, I have tried factory reset and following the e45 tutorial like I did a few months ago but I still have no luck, I believe I'm in nag 3 area, when I go to options - network - ip setup there are just loads of 000 whereas before I'm sure I used to have ip addresses etc there. I'm getting fta chans fine although pic quality is poorer. Also when I look at a channel I have 'not connected' come up at the bottom of the bar & it used to say connected. All wires etc are all still in their original place.
Any help to fix would be great, going  without the kids channels .

    Thanks in advance.

darky, you say when you go into your ip setup there are all zeros in the boxes, select auto and then at bottom of screen hit select or save[CANT REMEMBER]exit out then go back into ip settings and see if those boxes are now filled out..

Nope nothing is happening, Its on auto I clicked apply but nothing happens?!? It must be where I reset my router & somethings gone wrong somewhere, I think the box was on when I reset my router . At the back of the sv6 lan i have a constant amber light & a green flashing light (every 5 secs or so). Aaarrgghh. Thanks.

    Hi,
Yea took it round to my mates who has the same box & it works fine with his router connected. So it's not a problem with the box. What could it have done when I reset the router though? I'm confused about ip adresses & proxies etc but it must b to do with the router when I reset it 
