There's one thing I would not do on CS, is buy into a sharer on a network that is in a land that I live in.

Just my 2 cents lads, I share on sat that does not directly effect where I live.

This forum is wide open - remember that.

Other than that, best of luck lol.

    Hi,
Im a real noob so i just have some questions
After a really long time i have finally decided to cancel sky. I am in London and im going to get virgin media phone line and broadband. If i do this will i be able to use boxes like starview and eurovox because of Nagra 3?

Which is the best one to get and is reliable? I want it to be able to record programs like how sky+ does if that's possible and i might get two, one HD and one not, if thats possible?

Also will i be able to install it myself or do i have to get someone who knows how to do it?

And i am in a analogue area, i just did the virgin media postcode checker and it says i can get some of it's services like fibre optic broadband, home phone and tv. A few years ago i remember someone telling me that starview doesn't work in analogue areas, is this true?
    Thanks

No once N3 is fully implemented the boxes will not work so you will either have to pay sky or Virgin if you want to watch Tv

of course they can check what you are on same as any BB provider they prob do this all the time but just dont tell their customers they have to have a way at looking or monitoring what you are watching downloading etc for obvious reasons

will they need to look at each individual customer or do they have some sort of flagging system to tell them who's using a box?

Hey ive read all of this thread ,now lets see how many questions i can think of 1,if you buy a sv6 will your 1 year worth of viewing the box before you must bin it began the day you turn it on or is it univeral date set also how does this whole one year thing work?Q 2 c/s Vs sat they are different ways of overcoming N3 ?,so with the sv6 you dont need a sat dish?, c/s do you need only a cable and the internet i have no router, well i have one of those o2usb things youslot into your laptop will this do, i live in an nhel area i think its a new cable whats the name of it is it still called cable? At this point ive lost count of the questions so ill stop numbering them lol, can a dreambox (i have a dm500s clone) do everything a sv6 can do minus connect to the sv6 server ? is there a c/s is this cable haha option for dreambox and the dm500s clone be any use for the metod the sv6 uses or will i always need a sat dish for a dmbox ,best regards lads

you raise an interesting question in this thread which i hadn't really though about. that is why can't a dreambox connect to an sv6 server. the connection is just to an ip address with most likely a username/password and then an emulator. so what emulator does the sv6 use. then what is the programmed username/password in the box. What is the IP address of the server. Answer these questions and connect your dreambox away to your sv6 server. Other questions: who can say how long anything will last, one week, one month, one year, one decade. Second question: cs does not overcome the encryption system, you must have a valid subscription for cs. all cs does is share the encryption acknowledgements that the normal card would have to answer every few seconds to verify its authenticity. the sv6 is geared at the cable market. you cannot use a usb connected wirless internet connection, you need a broadband router. i think thats all your questions answered.

So my question to all is if anyone can read the IP addresses/usernames/passwords/emus offf the SV6 and would like to set up a dreambox to do the equivalent. If they have the info I can guide them through the dreambox setup, remember the dreambox is 1/3 the price of the sv6 so its an interesting little project and the results would be helpful to many

dublinlad, i'm really sorry. i should have been more careful with how i phrased my question. the information you post is good but really not for open visibility, else the supplier of the service gets pinpointed easily. i shud have said to pm me the info and i wud help others as requested. i don't know if its possible to get last post removed by moderator. i think it would be appropriate
