We would like people to do a search before asking to be spoon-fed information. At least it shows they have tried to locate the information and failed.

Everything to do with their cable boxes is on this forum ... all you have to do is look for it. If you can't find it THEN ask

the more people hand feed folk the worse it gets, rathur than point some one in the right direction firstly, some people go and find the links and even re-type the stuff over and over again, whats that achieving? nowt, your not actually helping them, the info on here covers the majority of things, a simple search will find it, its the people who spoon feed other are as bad as the ones who wont do a simple search,

As I said before helping is one thing, spoonfeeding is another

 

i must admit i do sometimes hand stuff up to people on a plate
and that is still not good enough for some them

 

thats why they wont learn nowt, take a quick answer without fully understanding what the answer is and keep hitting and running, taking and never giving back to forum, if people stopped the nose wiping and are consistant about it across the board, then folk would have to actually read whats in front of them or do a search of the forum, (shock horror),

There is no point in me, you and 5 others doing it and someone keeps doing it, spoonfeeding, defeats the purpose of trying to get people to actually read past their own problem and actually learn something more than what they came here in the first place, And this cobblers of "I am only new and not used to blah de blah" they can use a PC and the internet, find this site, create a post, but cant use a bloddy search button?

 

Yep, you get given out to if you don't help and you get given out to you if you help too much!!

 

were not all as bright as you mickah or have the time to look through all the threads, most guys on this site now are newbies

But the thing is SG8 mate, we all help, but some just want to be handed stuff on a plate, as my old boss used to say "your complacency, doesnt require my urgency", And there are a few guilty parties who take the Helping into the realms of wiping snotty noses, Just point em in the right direction and let em do a bit of reading to get a better understanding of what the fix is, more about the box they have, what it does or doesnt do, thus educating themselves, Do we need to do the actual search for them and post the links? Do we or should we have to type the damn thing time and time again? Nope,

By all means if someone is stuck and needs a hand, great, we can help as best as we can, its the ones when asked Did ya read this post or that post and reply No and wont even bother searching for anything


@Peter - Thats cobblers, They are bright enough to use the net to find the site, bright enough and time enough to create a username, create a post, but by your reckoning, they dont have time to click a search button? Even though ya dont have to be a member to read the posts on here? Utter crap mate, its called laziness on some peoples parts, not all of them, plain and simple, no excuse for it,

 

Agreed Mickah it is getting worse. All the imaginable questions I'm sure have already been answered and a simple use of the search box brings up the answer to most questions in seconds. I've tried it when bored and someone has asked a question and almost every time the answer was given in seconds to the persons questions. It's pure laziness and I would bet the people asking these questions will never return or contribute anything back in here if you just hand them the link or file their looking for. Just my 2 cents lads.

I agree some folks on here, who may not be Addicts nor even senior members, bring some great stuff to the party and always worth reading.


For folk to move from Newbie status upwards, its down to contributing, wheter thats posting or answering posts, its means they are taking part in the forum,

And also the other way around, some Members (junior and Senior, and some Addicts) post some from the other end of the scale !!!

 

yep to true mick agree with you on that score about spoonfeeding but at this stage it has be come more of a habit now for people to spoon feed them

But most of the other boxes are just on their last legs now so there wont be as many to sort and help with but as you say all the info is on here in one shape or form people just need to use the search button at the top of the forum

Well maybe bull might be a bit strong, and maybe not from addicts.

 

I agree with pretty much all thats been said regarding spoonfeeding. If people took a little time too scan through the threads they probably would find the answer a lot quicker. ( If a post starts with an issue not related to your query move on, if the reply has the original post ignore also. i.e scan rather than read. If you read both then you have wasted your time reading the same thing twice simples ! ) With Regard they haven't got the time well obviously they are concerned about whatever issue to visit the forum in the first place. I have learnt a great deal on the afterdawn forum and have received lots of help and info from members, threads,replys,pms etc. I moved on from cable to satellite after the intro of nag 3 and after some reading ( A total newbie to the sat scene ) I am more than happy with the results...

Question does the starview 6 / kryptview with Icon receive HD channels.
