there is nothing that cant be found if they really want to find it that is do you think that upc are not actually aware of this only a matter of time like everything all down to ip address after all and it wont only be the server that is caught it will be the people using it as well and this is only my view on it others can have theirs as well

there is no reason why c/s won't work on chorus the same as it works for ntl lreland
as they both upc the only thing i can thing off . is....... i wont post as not tellin starview how to fix it , but i would guess there will be/could be the same problems when it comes to virgin.

but there is private servers running now on chorus useing the dm box
and im sure there will be a few more poping up some people just don't want to be on a public server same as when they do c/s in the uk.

as for how many boxes sold i hope it is as few as possable and they close down as i think (just my thoughts) that the fta guys have made millions out off the cable hack.

oh any i pay for my sky and cable before any one moans.

The SV6 solution is interesting. As for the argument as to whether the SV6 self-destructs after a year, the answer is that it does not. It is a simple cs issue. You have a member of a group that you share a subscription with, you simply switch them off after a year. Being the server you control all your clients. So to set a limitation of one year is easy. The SV6 still works the same after the 1 year mark. Its just that the share has disconnected the box. The only thing to be aware of is that both NDS and Nagra3 can be shared if people are willing to learn how to do this. My perception of this is that by the time the one year SV6 solution dies the sharing of this solution will be available to many. So do not throw out the SV6, its just a change of IP address to a new share. The fact is that both NDS and Nagra3 have been proven to be weak in security in preventing sharing on either technology. So rather than accepting a simple solution of sharing with an IP address you have no control over, why not research how to share with your freinds, be it Nagra or NDS

There is one thing to note these boxes are not linux based so you cannot use anyother firmware on these boxes so for getting another ip address for a share for that box you can forget about that Starview do not share there firmware or scource to anyone so the chances of getting anything to work on that box is zilch just like all the other cable boxes no firmware is the same on any of them so they are not compatable with any other box unlike the linux boxes are open scource they are not and anyother firmware you will try will most defo kill the box that i am sure.

would like to argue this point. as i understand the dreambox you have an emulator that allows communication between client and server. you then must setup the necessary communication channels (ie. IP and possibly port address). But the primary point is that first the SV6 has the client communication software (this is obvious as it works). The server software as a rule is the same software as the client software, with sligltly more complex functionality (but not very different). So don't give up on the idea that it will not be possible to replicate. Look at the HMS posts. I have investigated since and with a bit of work I don't see a normal friend share on Nagra3 as an issue.

look back at any other starview boxes like the starview 2 just for say they could not get this to work on n2 nobody could make software for that box so what happened to it it died

it will be the same for that box there will be no way of replicating the firmware on that box as the code is hard coded and its closed scource so all the people in the world will not be able to do it same as its not able to be cloned they have made this box with added security features to stop anybody doing anything with it same as the Sv combo you cannot use the lan and the non lan firmware on same box as each will kill the other same will go for that box should they make another version of the Sv6 you wont be able to use that firmware on the older box.

Im not arguing with you purly making a statment but i will let you try you can let me know how ya get on as i would be very interested to see this happen to be able to use that box on another share ip

actually it is its GroovRider firmware made for the starview box different coder thats all the box is still closed scource regardless same as all the cable boxes are regardless of the coder that does the firmware for them

In by saying the settings what do you mean if you mean loking at the working of the box for adding it to another server that wont be possible as i say when they where putting this box into planning stages they added extra security measures to it so that it would not be possible for it even to be cloned like the other ones that is why im saying it wont be possible to add to another server as you wont get any other firmware to work on that box as the bootloader will not accept it and if it does it will kill the bootloader

But i stand to be corrected on this if there is proof that it can be done Sv would not leave that hole in their box this time so it could be possible to clone it
