Hi guys, I'm new here, be gentle!

I bought a Starview 3 after tonnes of reading about them, planning to flash it myself, then found somewhere selling them as cheap as anywhere else & pre-flashed, genuine I may add.

It's here, it's genuine & it's pre-flashed, but I have an aspect ratio issue with a few channels, most obvious on Setanta channels, where the sides of the picture are cut off, & even when the blue button is pressed it doesnt help, nor when it's changed from 4:3 to 16:9 in settings.

I've read elsewhere that a firmware fixed the aspect ratio issue, does that mean I'm not on the latest firmware?

How can I check what firmware version I have?

    Thanks in advance.

press menu system information to see what firmware is on the box, without over elaborating thats the way sotanta is broadcast sometimes.

    It's showing version 8.00 firmware.

    That's the latest right?

I know what you mean about Setanta, but my friend who lives in the same area & has a Starview PVR has no problem with this whatsoever.

There are still aspect problems with the Super. Needs to be looked at again.

Ah right, cheers fella (nice to hear from a fellow Scouser!).

At least I know it's not the firmware being used, or a settings issue so I can stop hunting high & low for a solution.

I'll be moving this box upstairs soon, & getting a new one downstairs, other than the Starview PVR (a little out of my price range), what other box doesnt suffer this problem?

I was looking at the Eurovox Max.

No probs if you dont know, you just seemed knowledgeable about these, seen your name pop up a few places!
