Before I go there are a multitute of these threads "The Starview 3 or the Box Super is rebooting" , have a look. There is new firmware coming out in the next few days to hopefully resolve this problem.

You need two scarts to record from the Starview. One from the box to the DVD recorder and one from the recorder to the tv. The Starview has to be on the channel you are recording. As far as I know, that's the only way to do it. Hope this helps....(",)**

    new batteries maybe? ha

only buzzin me head was wrecked with the same problem spilt beer on mine and it stopped workin until it dried out, happened twice to me. These remotes seem very vunrable to liquids but if they dry they work, anyways... as far as i know a new remote means a new box too :(

Hey guys I have made a channel dump file for Starview: The Box. I have made it available over on my blog HERE. This will let you have your channels back in a nice order again. I have also made a printable PDF file with all the stations listed out by groups.

    Hope this helps.

Cheers Dave, I have seen your blog and CDF, problem been this is a constant problem, (movements of TPs and channel PIDs), so best bet is to manually update the channels. Your CDF is for The Box only.

However your CDF for N** Dublin is much appreciated, just keep it up to date for everyone :)

Its asymmetrical warfare so it is. I will keep it up to date because I need it for my own box and the boxes of friends. Yes it is only for "Starview: The Box". Ive said it before and ill say it again, this forum is all over the place and could be made a lot better by forcing people to use the threads that already have the answers.

We have tried and so have the Mods, last year was worse in regards to repetitive threads, now we have posts outside of forum rules, so add in that factor.

I think you need to be here a bit longer to evaluate how the forum runs. Many repetitive posts are simply routed to a link where there query is answered, (thanks to the many great members here). With regards to "forcing" people to look for there answers, best of luck.
I have this link that says it all really http://www.starterupsteve.com/swf/posting.html and thats just my way of saying look before you post.

But all in all if you look at the stickies and the library all the info is there already. Queries which are outside of them are either found in the search facility or if not someone here is always here to help, guess thats why they call it a forum, whether it "all over the place", or not it still proves to be quite a knowledge base.

manual scan is the only way to retrieve vanishing channels? If i returned the sv clone to factory settings and done a auto scan, would this also work (without loosing all channels or disturbing my auto update keys)?

An autoscan would work but delete the blank channels first. If you do a factory reset you will lose your channel order.
