    Good ... proceed with the following:

    Go buy yourself a NULL modem cable from your local Maplins.

    You require the following files from http://eko.4shared.com ...

    CryptStar-v14-GenuineOnly.zip (in the starview/firmware folder)
    GTRom_v400.rar (in the starview/software folder)

    Extract the above files using WinRAR (also found on eko.4shared.com as well) and continue below ...

    UPLOADING SOFTWARE TUTORIAL

    1. Plug Starview in at the mains;
    2. Plug in null modem cable and join up box with PC using COM port on PC (there is only one socket for this on the Starview you cant go wrong);
    3. Open up GTRom loader.
    4. Click on "BIN File" on GTRom and load the Auto update BIN File file that you have downloaded
    5. Now click download button and you will see the file being downloaded.
    6. Once complete a message will appear saying something like "download successful".
    7. Plug box in and press Menu on remote, select Installation, choose your cable provider, then move down to automatic scan and press OK.
    8. Once all channels have been found press exit back to TV screen.
    9. Now press menu. Press INFO then type in the number 1570. A new menu will appear. Move down to Key Emu and change option to ON. Press OK, then exit back to TV Screen.
    10. Go to scrambled channel (Sky Sports is recommended) and wait on keys updating.

    Hi Topcat - you seem to be knowledgable on these issues - I have what I think is a clone box (7x18 vents) and which seems to be running "API ver : 4.00e_E Boot ver : 7.0 7.Jun.2007"

    Is there a firmware update for this box and does it actually achive the objective of getting the autoroll working again?

    Thanks in anticipation.

    I know a lot of people have gone into Maplins and got the wrong cable. If you ask for part L71BT you well get the right cable that is also the right sex.

    You could end up with a cable that does not fit or worse (you won't know whats wrong) a cable that does fit but once you get to step 5 nothing happens. If this is the case and you got the cable from Maplins if you still have the box check it says Serial lead [Null Modem] on the front of the box

    For starters you require a NULL modem cable not an RS232 cable ... they look the same but don't act the same

    Thanks, Crashdd, will get cable 2moro and try again. Is it alright to use a "convert USB to Serial" lead as I don't have a 9 male socket or indeed, a 9 female one either?

    Could anyone help me with this?

    I am in Dublin, Ireland and n*l is my provider.
    I have installed the following;
    thebox_Ireland_H2**70705_450eE_api.bin from the shared folder
    Can anyone help with this?

    Is there firmware available that will allow the codes to automatically update for n*l in Ireland? I have the box and can comummicate with it using a Null Modem Cable.

    Or is there simply no firmware that will allow the codes to automatically update for n*l in Ireland?

    Am I correct in saying that the firmware CryptStar-v1.4-Genu**eOnly is not suitable for this situation? (being in dublin with n*l)

    Any help would be appreciated.
