I have my box over a year now(starview 1) and it went on me a few weeks ago so i tried all the normal procedures. When this didnt work i stupidly tried to upload one of the new starview CD's onto my old one.Now my box wont even turn on(only the 3 green lights light up then nothing). Is there anyway i can wipe my box to put a new programme on or even get it to turn back on???! (i have all the computer leads if that any help) Thanks very much
OK if you have 3 flashing lights then it is just a bad flash and you can recover it but first you will need to know if you have a clone or genuine b0x Count the vents on top 18x7 = Clone 25x7 = Genuine 13x7 = 1st Generation Also looking from the front Scart to the left = Clone Scart to the right = Genuine Also you can go here to see some pics http://www.freewebs.com/dooby2oon
You will need the GTromloader, (Starvi*w Software Uploader), found in the Starvi*w software folder of the link. You will need version 4.00 firmware for GENUINES found in "Starvi*w" firmware folder. All firmware/loader can be found in the link at the end of my post marked Eamos Library.
Download them 2 files to your PC Updating Firmware Connect your box and PC with a Null modem cable and switch on the cable box and put it on STANDBY. (The Starvi*w does not need to be connected to TV to update it with GTROM) Open GTROM Loader software make sure that you set the correct COM PORT that matches the one that is being used Make sure App file only is selected, then click Bin File & browse to the firmware where you downloaded it to on your PC. Run the GTROM loader by pressing Download and you will see the % progress increase then Download completed message on your PC. Wait until you see the DOWNLOAD COMPLETE pop up on your PC before removing the NULL MODEM CABLE. The Starvi*w will then reboot Disconnect from PC and connect back up to the TV
Fiar play to you im gona do that now but which site did you say get it off? is it the ones at the end of your messages?
Yes , heres a link http://eko.4shared.com/ I be here for about half an hour if you get stuck drop back
how du you know so much about them? Genius id say Thanks again ill try it 2nite and if it doesnt work sure ill give you a shout tomorow if that alright Nice 1
I learned and got all the INFO on this site from other members Try it now as it really only takes 2-3 mins to do
Save it to your desktop first , then when you have your b0x connected to PC , just double click on it and it will run for you , follow my instructions above
If you saved it to your desktop , it should be there , look for the icon that looks like - red down arrow named GT ROM Loader If you cant see it on your desktop then you didnt download it , try it again and make sure you save it somewhere you can find it , either your desktop or "My Documents" etc
alright man ive loaded the gtrom loader to my destop and other folders but the computer just cant find(the actual programme is there,i can see it in the folders but the computer just cant find it). When i hit the Bin File and browse for the firmware i cant be found any ideas?
Ok create a new folder where you normally save stuff and call it "Starvi*w" , then download the 2 files again and save it to that folder so you know where to find them
