What's your opinion on the new boxes that are listed on fleabay
Kryptview and Itgate 220 are they any good better or not than the ones now

The Krypt is non linux whereas the Itgate is linux based both are fairly new to the marketplace and I have experiences of both but if you want plug and play go for the Kryptview as the Itgate requires a bit more hands on approach.

I could go on for a while on both but google them and you will see plenty of user opinions.

Just thinking ahead as the It one mentions something about nagra 2 and starviews won't work when this comes out ok with this one for now its sorted out just got a bit of freezing and picture breaking up but thinking of changing the chip from the clone to the proper one as there is one advertised on ebay for £10 and he is local as well so could collect it

Seen the Nagra 2 speculation doing the rounds so as always no fact is only speculation. BTW the speculation is coming from the supplier of the Itgate so add 1 + 1 and see what you get.

The SV chip is a change for the Eprom chip people have said it has worked but there is more than one way the firmware can invetigate the box.

Looking at some of the reviews of the kryview it don't look to be as good as it makes out to be think I will just wait and see if the freezing and pixilating settles down with the latest firmware I have loaded the one you and scouser suggested as it is not a real problem at the moment

I'm thinking of buying my dad a starview box for his Christmas. What's the difference between the original version and the Starview 2?

Hi Skywatchr basically they are the same. There are no more Starview 1 been sold so if you do buy one it will more than likely be a clone. "The Box", (Starview 2) is a better option as the firmware is updated on a much more regular basis. Personally I would say go with a Eurovox for a non linux based box but the choice is yours at the end of the day.

I presume you are in Ireland by the amount of channels you need to update your firmware to 4.50 to allow you view all channels and the CAS screen.
