Peeps just to let you know that the Starview 3 Super have still got the problems with the rebooting this is only on the new boxes with the new tuners and the v8.00 does not rectify this problem either Best advice is to not buy this box until they have sorted out this problem and choose another box this way they will see the sales going down and will sort the problem out otherwise we will be left waiting
Seen that Ferg but I keep getting conflicting reports about which boxes it does/does not work on, as peeps just dont know which batch is what. Majority say it is working........but I wonder also. Have you tried it on both batch types Ferg as then I will know. Hard to get the right answer unless asking the right people
the one the works is the older batch without the extra output on the back the newer ones will not work without the v8.00 on them as they wont scan The older boxes need the v6.01 ONLY on these boxes as they dont have the problem and the v8.00 is only for the newer boxes not the older model I know it is a bit confusing but the ones that where released within the last 5/6 weeks are the problem ones Also there are now Starview 2 TheBox and Starview 3 Super clones floating around now as well and it is very hard to tell the difference either All i will say is you pay for what you get and if you buy cheap and not from a reputable dealer you only have your self to blame as when the next firmware release they will not be able to use this firmware as it will kill the box
Yep I and you and a few others, know the difference Ferg its the peeps who make the comments as in they think they know but don't or do they......... LOL my head has been wrecked of late True what you say though. Even with it fixing the older batch, there are still problems with channel mapping and aspect ratio. And to add to all the confusion the clones certainly don't help. Well as you said its up to people to make a stand in relation to which box gives the least headaches when it comes to these non opened plug n play devices. Open sourced has always been the old reliable as even clones are supported to an extent, (well until DMM and Gemini). But thats only my opinion, as you said before most people only want plug n play, (well after they flash it off course). But there are always other ones outside the Starview product line, but who am I to say We all tend to go towards the one in the same budget with less problems or is it the fact that the better "advertised" box rules the market?
mine only has 2 coax connections. cable input and output and no other coax connections. is this the one that still reboots with 8.00?
Try the v6.01 on it first if you scan it and it dont find any channels you will then have to reflash it with the v8.00 then you will know what box you have with regard to the clones the have seemed to come to grips with hiding the old tell tale marks of the red paint on the screws a defo give a way yes tru about the other boxes scouser you are right but the last 2 images for them boxes have now got code killing written in and soon they will all go like that so buy cheep and change often that is the clone market LOL or buy from reputable dealer and get the support needed
Yep tried Laky and Blade Quad, (which had a problem with the setmylocations.config for Ireland), Ferg liked both but reverted back to Commando 9.25 and copied over the you know what I just dont like change LOL.
ok thanks for the replies. does it fix reboot problems with any of them as i had it on it 3 days and it looks like the reboot is fixed but that happened with 7.05 too then it went of twice in a row.
Scouser Andromeda works great as the blade would not work down here will in dublin if you use the b/f scan engin did you try that one and evo for the cam
i have 8.00 on it. people say 6.01 is more stable but what is more stable about it i've been wondering?
Yep had that on as well Ferg, I tend to try them all The problem with B Quad was the Net ID for my area. I had to edit the setmylocation file to the proper Net ID and delete scan.config. It sorted it to allow me to scan but after a while I had some problems with scanning. Dont get me wrong I am a fan of Xenafan and like all his work but Commando is of an old preference, I hate change but like messing with new images
Steo this was one of the first releases and not causing any problems it was after this version that all the rebooting happened the only reason there was another release was because they changed the tuner on the box and would not scan the channels in if you want to put the other ones on work away i am just giving you my advice feel free to use or not use it is down to the owner at the end of the day
Hi can anyone help, i have followed the instructions from several forums on here when my st*r box stopped working, i bought the null cable, and then the usb adapter to link it to my laptop, i then downloaded rar so i could get GTrom_v4.00, which came in fine i think, i then followed the other instructions and downloaded the bin files, i started with 400 bin then tried 260, but when i go to download them through GTrom_4.00, both are coming up with flash update failed, i have ensured the USB is set to the right port (one in this case) in the device manager, i think i have done everything, but obviously not please help, the box is genuine, any help will be greatfully received as the box not working has been ongoing for a while and the girlfriend is ready for killing me
Ok start fresh , delete the gt rom loader and the 4.00 bin file from your PC Download this gt rom directly to your desktop http://www.4shared.com/file/49191796/3361714/GTRom_v400.html Download this v4.00 to your desktop also http://www.4shared.com/file/46699827/b260d1ca/CryptStar-v14-Core400.html Connect your box and PC with a Null modem cable and USB Adapter , switch on the cable box and put it on STANDBY. (The Starvi*w does not need to be connected to TV to update it with GTROM) Open GTROM Loader software make sure that you set the correct COM PORT that matches the one that is being used Make sure App file only is selected, then click b1n File & browse to the firmw@re where you downloaded it to on your Desktop. Run the GTROM loader by pressing Download and you will see the % progress increase then Download completed message on your PC. Wait until you see the DOWNLOAD COMPLETE p0p up on your PC before removing the NULL MODEM CABLE. The Starvi*w will then reboot Disconnect from PC and connect back up to the TV
Hi thanks for the quick reply, i did exactly what you said and when i click download after a few seconds it comes up flash update fail ??
