    The v.400 is for the 4.50 & 4.51 firmw@re
If you are flashing with 4.54 firmw@re use the v.4.03

These are for "St*rview the b0x" only.

if you have the right cable and have the correct gtrom it should work. if you're version is 4.52 or newer you need gtrom 4.03 otherwise 4.00. what firmware are you trying to use?

i have pasted the spec on so you can see because dont know for sure it is the one your talkSerial RS232 Null Modem Cable - DB9F to F - 2 Metres

Null modem cables are used to transfer data between machines.

Occasionally used for data transfer between two PC's (use Windows Direct Cable Connection software or LapLink) but more commonly now, used to update Satellite/Cable Receivers from your PC (please check your instructions to make sure this is the correct cable). Suitable for Dreambox, Technomate, Humax, EchoStar, Manhattan and may more.

High quality cable with moulded ends, with thumb screw fasteners, for secure easy connecting.

    Connections:
    pin 2 ...to... pin 3
    pin 3 ...to... pin 2
    pin 4 ...to... pin 6
    pin 5 ...to... pin 5
    pin 6 ...to... pin 4
    pin 7 ...to... pin 8
    pin 8 ...to... pin 7
    ing about.

Yes its a null modem cable with handshaking. Try another Comm Port as Comm 1 may already be in use. Or even better try it from another pc, preferably a standalone and take the adapter out of the equation entirely.

ok then it's either a driver or port problem.

right click my computer and pick properties. then hardware then device manager. go to ports and see which port it's listed as.

Yes but the instructions I linked you to said select a port between 1 and 4, however port 1 may be already in use on your PC. I would still recommend trying it on another PC though.

What OS are you currently running?

    then it should be working.

@sc0user i'm not having problems with that box super lately for the last 2 weeks (thank god), but why did they put in new tuners and cause all these problems in the first place.

edit: vista does have problems with flashing sometimes.
